Hummingbird Festival

When: Sat., May 10, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 2014
Phone: 385-6086
Email: hummingbirdfest@gmail.com
Price: Free, with donations to Friends of Cheyenne Canon encouraged.

In 1885, Gilbert and Sullivan debuted The Mikado; Good Housekeeping published its first issue; Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn hit the U.S.; and Colorado Springs voted to purchase 640 acres that would later become North Cheyenne Cañon Park. Today, celebrate the place by way of some of its seasonal residents at the free 21st Annual Hummingbird Festival. Come between 10 and 4 for live music, live bird programs, a tipi raising, vendors, kids' activities and much more. It all takes place at Starsmore Discovery Center (2120 S. Cheyenne Cañon Road, cheyennecanon.org), with free shuttles taking visitors in from Cheyenne Mountain Junior High School. — Edie Adelstein
