IQ: How Did That Happen?

It's amazing what you see on the news every day; murders, earthquakes, politicians being indicted for various schemes. But how often do you see stories about the family that breeds alligators in their living room, or about the high school kid that forgot to put the parking break on his dad's car, sending it careening into the local meat-packing plant, followed by a massive beef recall due to gasoline saturation? Weird, huh? Good thing they didn't actually happen.

What's the funniest story you ever read? There was this thing that happened back in Utah when these people got married and some mess-ups happened and they had a little article on it. The guy had problems and missed his wedding and everybody was leaving and had to go back and redo everything again. It was one of those Mormon things.

If you could see any story in the newspaper, what would it be? More about helping the homeless and stuff like that.

What's the best April Fool's joke anyone ever played on you? A long time ago my grandson fooled me one morning. He woke me up and said somebody's breaking into my car and I ran out in my shorts.

What's the weirdest story you ever read in the newspaper? When I was a little kid, there was a story about some type of woman, hag, witch they found in the basement in Detroit.

What's the funniest story you ever read? I guess somebody finding $20,000 on a bus that somebody had left behind.

If you could see any story in the newspaper, what would it be? Peace and good will for all man, I guess.

What's the best April Fool's joke anyone ever played on you? They don't really pull too many April Fool's jokes on me.

What's the weirdest story you ever read in the newspaper? In the Independent I read that "Stranger Than Fiction" column all the time, and that contains a lot of weird stuff.

What's the funniest story you ever read? Some of the political stuff's pretty funny, but I can't point down anything in particular.

If you could see any story in the newspaper, what would it be? I guess more coverage about environmental issues and things like that. The fact that there are these electric cars coming out now, and there's been hardly (any) coverage of it at all.

What's the best April Fool's joke anyone ever played on you? All the things I can think of, I didn't enjoy them.
