Skin deep

Modern literature is unthinkable without Whitman's Leaves of Grass, James Joyce's Ulysses, Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer, D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover and Allen Ginsberg's Howl. Yet they were all deemed pornographic when they appeared. What constitutes pornography?
