Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

Street Smarts

With the presidential campaign season morphing into something out of a Jerry Springer show, more voters are looking with envy at Canada's 11-week model.

Predict the eventual Republican nominee in 2016. That's a scary question. Bush'll still get it, even though he's not faring so well at present.

If it were up to you, who'd it be? Do I have to pick?

Rate Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz from one to five, one the highest. Bush one, Rubio two, Trump three, Cruz four, Carson five.

Predict the Democratic nominee. Sanders just might get it. He appeals to everyman and to young voters, and Hillary's not getting the female vote as much as I'd assumed.

Could Sanders take it all? I think he could. He has the clearest vision of them all, and the Republicans are in their usual state of disarray, going for each other's throats.

If you could pick the next president, who'd it be? Elizabeth Warren. She's extremely intelligent, she has a strong understanding of economics, she's level-headed and consistent.

Predict the eventual GOP nominee. It's a four-way tie at present between Carson, Trump, Cruz and Rubio.

Arrange Carson, Trump, Rubio, Bush and Cruz from one to five, with one the highest. Cruz one, Carson two, Rubio three, Trump four, Bush five.

Why Cruz first? He sticks to his promises and doesn't back down, even to his own party. He doesn't cave to political pressure. He's willing to go the full mile and shut down the government.

Why Bush five? He's the establishment candidate.

Predict the Dem nominee. Hillary, provided she doesn't get indicted. If that happens, Biden will step in.

Who'll be the GOP nominee? Marco Rubio. Carson and Trump will flame out. They don't really have much to offer.

Rate Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Ted Cruz from one to five. Rubio one, the others tied at five.

Predict the eventual Democratic nominee. Clinton, if only because most Americans don't understand the term "socialism." The word itself scares them.

If it were up to you, who'd be the next president? I wish Obama could run a third time. Given the situation he inherited, he's done a commendable job. The economy is doing pretty well. All the predictions of the U.S. going to hell in a handbasket obviously haven't come true.

Envision the best possible showdown in November 2016. Cruz and Carson vs. Hillary and whoever.
