Dear Medical Marijuana Registry:
A few months ago, the Rocky Mountain News published a statistical abstract showing that Colorado has slipped behind Maine and Vermont in its marijuana use.
After absorbing this news, I made a point of keeping my ear tuned to the pulse of the Colorado street. I thought I'd encounter fermenting rage or at least traces of a burgeoning anti-New England sentiment. Sadly, I've yet to witness sufficient indignation.
I can't stop asking myself: Who stole our dignity?
Vermont I can forgive, but how can a self-respecting Coloradan cede the mantle of toke to a state whose literary giant is Stephen King, a state where it's perfectly reasonable to use the term chowderhead in casual conversation, a state that boasts of being the backup vacation spot of our current president?
I don't expect pat answers to my questions, though I certainly wouldn't scoff at them. Perhaps you might be able to provide me some sort of insight or solace. I can't live with third place and I can't be the only one.
Your support in this critical hour for Colorado is most appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kenneth Cleaver
