Dear Mr. Cox,

You probably haven't heard many good things about the fine nation of Yemen. Because it was the site of the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole and harbors a population not unsympathetic towards Osama bin Laden, it often gets a bad rap. But it's really not all bad, especially for those of us committed to protecting the Second Amendment.

Here's something you might not know: Yemen has 10 million guns for a population of 20 million people. While this ratio isn't utopian, it's a start. What's more, according to Rolling Stone, Yemen's open-air markets sell machine guns alongside produce.

This is exactly what America needs: To dissolve the aura of negativity surrounding firearms by conveying the idea that buying them shouldn't be any different than picking up a few pieces of fresh fruit.

I am a businessman with contacts around the world, some as far away as Ontario. What I'd like to do is arrange a fact-finding mission to Yemen; buy guns, talk about guns and local gun culture, and perhaps take in some local antiquities.

While I'm not asking for any financial assistance from the NRA, I would like its imprimatur in whatever way might be arranged. Having the NRA's name attached to my journey will help build the kind of credibility I need to arrange for security and attract fellow travelers, so to speak.

Please let me know what you think.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Cleaver Read the Response.
