Long Story Short

Let's just start with a sweeping generalization: Beer brewers are pretty awesome people.

They patiently respond to repeated, probably dumb, questions on the tiniest details of their craft; they enjoy sharing a drink or five; and they don't seem to take life too seriously. (See Bristol Brewing's Laverne & Shirley opening-credits re-enactment on our cover.)

They do, however, take beer seriously. From their vantage point and to their consumers' delight beer is life.

It's a refreshing (pun intended) perspective in these times of war and what-have-you.

Listen: This story on Colorado Springs brewers, with a focus on recent gold-medal winner Bristol, won't change your life. But hopefully, you'll find it interesting, and you'll consider their efforts worthy of attention.

The details they pore over so we can truly enjoy a tall, cold one are pretty remarkable. So, as they prepare for this week's Great American Beer Festival in Denver, raise a glass to them.

And next time you're in one of their brew houses, buy them a beer. They have plenty of war stories that I couldn't fit here, and I'll bet they'd be happy to share them with you.
