Marijuana or martinis? 

Have you heard a convincing or consistent rationale as to why adult use of alcohol should be legal, but not marijuana? Why don't the criteria for legalizing or de-legalizing one apply equally to the other?

    Have you used marijuana? Yes.

    Was it a negative or a positive experience? The only drawback was worry about possible drug testing on the job. Otherwise, I never had a negative experience. There's been times, though, when I woke up sick with a wicked hangover from alcohol, and wished I hadn't used it.

    Should medical marijuana be legal? It helps people with cancer, glaucoma and terminal illnesses. It also helps treat people who have anxiety disorders.

    Explain the difference between marijuana and alcohol usage. Both are social drugs which people use to self-medicate. As a social worker, I've seen many, many people die of alcoholism, but I've never seen anybody die from long-term marijuana use. It's odd that alcohol is socially acceptable, but marijuana isn't.

    Is marijuana a gateway drug? If, at a young age, you start using any substance as a coping mechanism say, when you're stressed you're likely to rely on self-medication when you're older.

    Have you used marijuana? I'm not going to give that a yes or a no.
