Support for America's war in Iraq is eroding, gas prices are topping $3 a gallon, President Bush's approval ratings are headed further south, and the handling of the Katrina disaster continues to draw furious disaffection. [Note: Since these interviews took place, Mike Brown has resigned as director of FEMA.]

What's in back of Bush's approval ratings dipping below 40 percent? Some of it is due to gas prices, some to Iraq. I support our troops, but I don't believe we belong there. It's their conflict, not ours. Our people shouldn't be dying over there.
If you could fill one of the Supreme Court vacancies, whom would you choose? A person who understands the average Joe.
What did it cost for you to fill up your car last? Almost $50, which is absolutely ridiculous. We have oil in reserve we could be using. We could stop importing oil from countries that are in conflict.

Has [FEMA director Mike Brown] done an acceptable job addressing the Katrina disaster? It's too early to tell. This happened on his watch, but what happened on other people's watch that he was left with?
What's going on with Bush's approval ratings dipping below 40 percent? The national concern is shifting from the war on terror to domestic issues here at home, and the perception is that he mishandled the Gulf disaster.
Given the power, whom would you choose to fill one of the Supreme Court vacancies? I wouldn't mind giving it a try. I would interpret the Constitution as it is written, and I'd leave the agendas of both the left and the right out.
What's in store for the District 11 school board? I fear for the future of public education. All of my education was in the public system, including a land- grant college. My life would have been different without public education. It's what made this country great.

Has "Brownie's" performance been satisfactory? Apparently, there are no credentials required for these top positions. Brown did a terrible job and should be fired.
What are your thoughts on Bush's latest poll ratings? A lot of people are seeing a pattern with Bush. There's no real leadership. His problems in the polls are of his own doing.
Who would you pick to fill one of the Supreme Court vacancies? [Illinois Sen.] Barack Obama.
What's in store for the D-11 school board? I'm afraid that [board member Eric] Christen and the pro- voucher faction could easily prevail. I don't see much hope for moderation on that board.
What's behind the skyrocketing gas prices? Odd, isn't it, how prices always go up whenever there's some event -- whether orchestrated or a legitimate national disaster -- but they never return back to the pre-event level? It's causing a lot of people I know to make different driving choices, like carpooling.
