*Bowling for Columbine (R)
An all-you-can-eat buffet of food for thought on the following question: Why, more than any other industrialized nation, do Americans kill each other with guns? Unfortunately, filmmaker Michael Moore doesn't answer his big question as much as he dances around it, performing stunts that, however funny, do little to further the debate. When Moore has the decency to stay behind the camera and listen, we're treated to some pretty insightful commentary from unlikely places. -- John Dicker

A Guy Thing (PG-13)
The morning after his bachelor party, the groom-to-be (Jason Lee) wakes up in bed with a strange woman (Julia Stiles), whom he presumes he slept with. He tries to hide his possible affair from his fiancee (Selma Blair). Comedy.

The Hours (PG-13)
Based on Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prizewinning novel, The Hours draws on the life and work of Virginia Woolf to tell the story of three women: Woolf (Nicole Kidman); a young pregnant wife and mother (Julianne Moore) in the suffocating confines of her tidy little life in Los Angeles in 1949; and a modern-day Mrs. Dalloway (Meryl Streep), who's throwing a party for her closest friend, Richard (Ed Harris), an award-winning writer dying of AIDS.

National Security (PG-13)
Earl (Martin Lawrence) and Hank (Steve Zahn) met on opposite sides of the law during a routine traffic stop, but now they're teamed up as harebrained security guards.
