What's new on Colorado Springs area screens

Opening This Week

Freddy VS. Jason (R)
Just to prove that Hollywood has run out of ideas, this is the story of a final face-off between two of the most notorious horror-movie villains. See it if you must.

Carmike 10, Chapel Hills 15, Tinseltown, Cinemark 16

Grind (PG-13)
Grind is the story of four skaters who try to gain fame and fortune on a road-trip from Chicago to California. Starring a bunch of foul-mouthed and immature kids who skate better than they act. Oh, and it has real-life pro-skater better known for his roles in Jackass, Bam Margera.

Open Range (R)
Kevin Costner directs and stars in this dramatic and heartfelt story of the Range Wars in the waning days of the Wild West. Robert Duvall and Annette Benning also star. Open Range is one of the few must-see films of the summer.

Uptown Girls (PG-13)
Brittany Murphy stars as a newly disinherited rock heiress who is forced to get a job. Desperate, she becomes the nanny to a prematurely mature grade schooler (Dakota Fanning). The two have conflict and then become best friends in this fun -- though predictable -- chick flick.
