Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to see one of your favorite bands when no one knew who they were? When they played at a local bar for peanuts for whoever would listen? If you answered yes, then do yourself a favor -- see Against Tomorrow's Sky.
What do they play? Let's see ... heart-on-sleeve lyrics about all things love, harmony and good-grooming habits. Do I smell emo? Thankfully, I do not. Against Tomorrow's Sky writes from the heart, but it's never sappy, so there goes that "e" word. The two words that do come to mind on listening to their debut CD Jump the Hedges First are "heavy" and "indie." So for lack of a better term, let's just say that ATS plays "heavy indie."
On second thought, why not see the band play this Monday at Jack Quinn's when they celebrate the release of their CD, and come up with your own label for what they do? Just know that none of them will stick. The category-defying begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $3 and it's an all-ages show.
