Alanis, Ani, etc ... Unpretentious, straightforward lady rock is what yer gittin' from this 20-year-old Denver kitten, Jill Stevenson. Fresh off the coffee-house circuit and into the clubs with an appropriately understated backing band, Stevenson's sound packs plenty of promise and seems most at home when showing off her quiet range on melodic keyboard songs like the lovely "Let Me Know." There are plenty of up-tempo ditties, blues and country-twinged numbers, and precociously world-weary love lyrics. Jill would appear to be on her way up the hill.
