Natty Nation benefit for the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation
Tequilas Bar and Grill, 18 N. Tejon St.
Thursday, May 13 at 9 p.m.
$7, 630-0500
21+

Wisconsin-based rock-reggae outfit Natty Nation will perform at Tequila's Bar and Grill this coming Thursday evening in a benefit for the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation. The CSSC is a local nonprofit with a mission to "attract, retain and support sports organizations and businesses to Colorado Springs." The organization also annually provides over $100,000 in scholarships to local youth sports programs to help defray costs for "disadvantaged youngsters."

Natty Nation, like most reggae bands, freely espouses messages of struggles for social justice, Jah, liberation and Rastafarian pastimes not generally associated with ... uh ... sports.

Touring behind their 2003 release, Inatty in Jah Music, Natty Nation has played everything from the South by Southwest music fest in Austin, Texas, to the College Music Journal festival in New York City. While tequila and reggae may seem like strange bedfellows, love knows no cross-cultural boundaries when it comes to a good cause.
