OK, Chris Mitguard's got a beautiful voice, plain and simple. I mean Willie Nelson beautiful. And Debbie Mitguard's got that harmony goin' spot on with her mandolin. Like anything well executed, it seems ridiculously effortless. Yet nothing could be more difficult to nail down. Hmmm. Anyhow, local old-time country faves The Mitguards have a lovely new CD out titled Nobody's Fool, the follow-up to Same Moon in 2002. Along with Debbie and Chris are, once again, Dave Gallupe on bass and guitar, Christian Teele (from E-Town) on drums and Bob Tudor flexing the accordion. Don't miss this true gem of an understated group at their release party at the Smokebrush Foundation and Gallery on Friday.
