"Playing music helps us give back to the community," says bassist David Moorfield. He's talking about the comfy, cover-mixin', rock-pop-folk-blues band Blues Fuse, who'll play Wooglin's this Saturday.

"Usually, we just pass the hat," Moorfield says. "It works well for us." Blues Fuse is serious about efforts to spotlight Colorado artists and improve the community: One recent project raised money for Urban Peak Colorado Springs, an area organization that helps runaway and homeless teens. Blues Fuse has played the funky deli near Colorado College before, and according to deli-man Lee Hand, "Every time, they pack the place."

Playing mostly covers, but "working to incorporate originals," the Fuse draws its material from such diverse sources as Steppenwolf and Keb' Mo'. Moorfield, singer Susan Rissman, percussionist Mark Smith and guitar player KJ Braithwaite will fuse some blues this weekend, and Wooglin's coffee and great sandwiches will fill your tummy while Blues Fuse fills your ear.
