Over the past decade, Benjamin Pratt has created a musical genre that he describes as "aggressive dinner music," which involves improvisation, spoken word, acoustic guitar and electronic looping. It's a lot like the music playing in the VIP room of a Mexican-Moroccan fusion joint on the planet Dagobah. After meeting Christian Sequoia at a New Year's Eve party last year, Pratt began collaborating with the musical gadgeteer, whose drums and piano expand Pratt's range. Together, they create the trippy, spacey trance sound that goes by Lydian Husk. Catch Pratt for his solo show at Pikes Perk this weekend, with Lydian Husk at the Ancient Mariner on Sept. 24, or at benprattmusic.com.
