City of Vanity with Harrison Bergeron, They Murdered Miracles and Runs Faster Scared The Black Sheep, 2106 E. Platte Ave. Friday, Nov. 4, 8 p.m. $5 at the door.
Local post-hardcore band City of Vanity is throwing a CD release party for their first album -- on the same night as their last show. Turns out that just as the band was getting their CD together, interpersonal relations started falling apart. Bassist Kyle Watz says CV members are headed in different directions and feel as though they've come as far as they can together. Their self-titled album churns vocal harmonies and hardcore chug to create an ambitious effort, though it may try a bit too hard to wrap all hardcore elements into one package. Discs will be $5 at the show and also will be available later at Independent Records.
It's too bad CV's ready to retire after less than two years, but at least they're gonna burn the city down one last time.
