The Last Band on Earth Fat City Blues (inside Rum Bay) 20 N. Tejon St., 634-3522 Friday, Dec. 23, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The Last Band on Earth is a true multimedia experience. Their DVD and Web site (lastband.com) feature various interactive, animated characters that romp around and sultrily inform visitors about The Last Band's sheer rocking ability. The site, especially, is rather impressive. "I have a little too much time on my hands," says guitarist/vocalist/Web- and animation-master Rich Horn. The Springs quartet has plenty to show for its efforts. The Last Band's self-titled 1998 album was a hit; the song "Party in My Pants" appears on the soundtrack for the film The Good Life. A radio "DJ" kicks off their latest disc, Pirate Radio, providing a theatrical sort of aura before launching into "This Job Sucks" and "Spank That Puppy." Singing about the topical standbys of beer, women, sex, shitty jobs, money woes and more beer, The Last Band finds universal appeal. Their music has been played around the world, from Europe and Australia to, um, Canada.
