Present Perfect

Yes, it's that most wonderful time of the year, made all the more so by those five-figure bonuses many of us will be getting just in time for gift-giving season. Of course, those five figures do include the numbers after the decimal point, but still ...

Meanwhile, time is most definitely slipping away. Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa are all rapidly approaching. (Ramadan is already over, so we can't really help you there.)

In the following pages, we'll tell those of you who actually like to shop and hey, isn't that all of us? where to find gifts for most everyone on your list from local vendors and, often, local artisans. For the rest of you, our discerning critics pore over new-ish DVDs, CDs and books (things with pages that you read) so you can hit your favorite media outlet for quick easy shopping.

You'll find all that, plus the obligatory yodeling pickles, monkey-picked tea and Chronic-Pussy "catabis" that will mean everything to that very "special" someone.

  • Shake off the humbugs with a few of the Indy's gift-giving suggestions.
