In a blaring myspace posting reading "Ying Yang Twins 2 Drunk 2 Perform," local rapper Black Pegasus complained about the Sept. 3 show that was cut short. According to Black P, after he performed his opening act, the aforementioned Twins were passed out in a drunken haze. Verbatim from his site: "Those Assholes didn't even get out of there limo. They just were chillen right next to the City Aud. Crazy." Rob Isacoff of Big House Productions, who promoted the show, very nicely refused to comment, as his company is in the middle of trying to settle with the Twins. To wash the bad taste of crunk out of goers' mouths, Isacoff says refunds were issued last Friday through TicketsWest. For more information, call them at 576-2626.
All kinds of Springs musicians have become active in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims, giving fans a chance to enjoy some great local music while donating to charitable organizations. If you're into the retro vibe, dance for the Salvation Army's relief efforts with the New Century Big Band, Bill Emery and The Randy Sinatra Show. They'll perform at Big Band Sunday, starting at 3 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Colorado Springs Shrine Club (6 S. 33rd St.).
Local musicians join forces for a huge Hurricane Relief Show on Friday, Sept. 24 at Thunder and Buttons (2415 W. Colorado Ave.), with proceeds going to the American Red Cross. Performances begin at 2 p.m., with the Nocturnal Tomatoes headlining from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Call Craig at 201-2592 for more.
Keep holding your breath, kids. The anticipated Leechpit CD, which features southern Colorado bands exclusively and benefits School District 11 music and art programs, has been delayed. Leechpit proprietor and CD organizer Adam Leech blames tardy submissions and unforeseen family issues. An associated showcase concert in Acacia Park has been cancelled. According to Leech, getting permits to the park proved difficult amid hectic times, so the showcase most likely will be held at Darkside on some future date. Check here for more updates.
