Hear ye, hear ye: A new local band is debuting this Saturday, Dec. 17 at The Black Sheep (2106 E. Platte Ave.). That's right, ladies and gents, Lorito Opens His Beak (which, as everyone knows, is a nod to Puccini's La Bohme) is breaking out of the practice space and onto the stage. Members include an incestuous mix of Against Tomorrow's Sky, The Great Redneck Hope and Thruster, though Lorito's music will sound like very little like of any of theirs. They've been described to Reverb as "stuff that ATS fans will like, but with a little bit of Fiona Apple, the theme to The Godfather, punker stuff and lighter shoegazer stuff ..." Pack your Ritalin, kids. It's going to be a bumpy night.

The VooDoo Hawks have been rockin' their own brand of roadhouse jam for 10 years, with three albums released to date. Now they're looking to blaze into the 21st century with a DVD to feature footage from previous shows and from an upcoming filming party at The Thirsty Parrot (32 S. Tejon St.). Fans from across the state are expected to descend upon the Parrot for an evening of fun and filming at 9 p.m. Saturday. Look for the Hawks to release a studio-recorded CD in early February, followed by the DVD and a live album by the end of that month.

Memorial services for Bob Thomas, local guitarist and former VooDoo Hawks member, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Pikes Peak Christian Church (4955 Bradley Road, Security). Thomas was incorrectly identified as Bob Thompson in last week's column. Reverb sincerely regrets the error, and offers condolences to Thomas' friends and family.
