Boy, have I got some great news for all my friends down in the P'blow, further proving I-25 runs south just as smoothly as it does north. Hyperbole be damned, but Inaiah Lujan, one of Colorado's greatest untapped cultural assets, will be performing regularly on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at The Downtown Bar (103 Central Plaza, Pueblo).

The experimentally formatted evenings are scheduled to include solo acoustic songs, electric sets, special guest appearances and many more surprises, which, when talking about Lujan, can only mean something truly amazing.

Equally amazing, I am sure, will be Blank-Tape Records, the independent record label collective formed by Lujan and his friends to house all the remarkable records they are producing.

The roster already includes works by The Haunted Windchimes, The Mexican, DJ Flow Nase and A Poor Substitute, but they are currently searching for other like-minded musicians to join the subtle swell of their rock 'n roll revolution. Those interested in this worthwhile endeavor can contact them through myspace.com/blanktaperec.

And, while on the subject of worthwhile endeavors, another highly recommendable show comes this Saturday to the Rocket Room (230 Pueblo Ave.), when three of the scene's chief contenders, Loverleigh, Abracastabya and The Jack Trades, will play pretty for us babies. As I have mentioned previously, Loverleigh is now blessed with the remarkable talents of Jeff Fuller, former Against Tomorrows Sky conspirator, making an already magnificent thing that much more so. And if you haven't caught the AbStab or The Jack Trades since each of their new CDs came out, boy, are you in for it!

While you're at it, just a few blocks up, the Triple Nickel (26 S. Wahsatch Ave.) will play host to the SLC metal punk screamers Top Dead Celebrity, whose new album is available on Exigent Records. Unfortunately, the local support dropped off the bill, but any bands interested in playing at the Triple Nipple, as I so cleverly dubbed it, should do right to contact the new booking manager, Ryan Coalition, via, you guessed it, myspace.com/ryancoalition. Ryan has booked talent for the legendary Double Down Saloon in Las Vegas, and as such, should be bringing in some pretty sweet punk and rock 'n roll acts. Keep it on your radar!

In news of the barroom blues, roadhouse rock 'n roll will never sound better than at this weekend's blowout over at the Navajo Hogan. For those in the know, the names Steele, Daniels, Louis & Hall will be enough to raise an arm hair or two, but for those who have spent the last decade under a rock, the band is made up of four of the better-known band leaders in the Colorado bar circuit, John Michael Steele and Jack Daniels (the one and only) from The Riders, along with Mike Louis and Rikki Dee Hall (I know, right?) from The VooDoo Hawks. Throw in special guest skin-pounder Jim Kerr, and it's bound to be a real scorcher! Catch acoustic and electric sets on both Friday and Saturday night.

And lastly, Colorado Springs' own slice of honky-tonk heaven, Cowboys Night Club, has been nominated Best Nightclub in the U.S. by none other than the Academy of Country Music. Taking its place alongside such cleverly titled clubs as Billy Bob's, Wild Bill's and Coyote Joe's, the winner will be announced May 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Congrats, and welcome to downtown. Yee haw!

Smell you next time!
