The Broadmoor has garnered 2007 Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards for all three of its fine-dining establishments. Penrose Room, Charles Court and Summit were recognized for interesting, diverse selections that suit their respective cuisines. The Trails and Open Space Coalition is holding its 12th Gala in the Garden Dinner and Silent Auction at Rock Ledge Ranch (3202 Chambers Way) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 10. A tropical theme, complete with Margaritaville-style music, contests and cuisine by Garden of the Gods Gourmet invites beach-style dress. Tickets are $40. Nothin' goes together better than noodles and trees. The 15th annual Pasta in the Park will be at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 11 at TESSA's new Myron Stratton Campus (2525 S. U.S. Hwy 115) home. Jack and the beer stout

Brewer John Dunfee at Arctic Craft Brewery (2506 E. Platte Place) is releasing a "Butter Jack Stout" beer at 6 p.m. on Aug. 9. The brew, hovering near 17 percent alcohol by volume, is a butterscotch stout that's been aged in used bourbon barrels for a year. Dunfee says the flavor starts with dark chocolate and a hint of butterscotch and "as for the finish, watch out." Call 477-1340 for more.
