Art, coffee ... now liquor?
Guillermo Alvarado, owner of Cucuru Gallery Caf (2332 W. Colorado Ave.), says guests at his recent Saturday night steak dinners tell him they feel they've been transported to another country on his patio. The $25 (not including tax/tip), South American-themed evenings present Ranch Foods Direct steaks in a variety of styles Argentine, Costa Rican, Brazilian, Cuban paired with local farmers' market vegetables and sangria.

Alvarado obtained a liquor license in early September, and plans to expand into full liquor service soon. The dinners take place most weeks alongside live music at 7. Call 520-9900 for reservations and dates.
Cheap Monday hangover

The restaurant's executive chef and owner of 11 years, Robert Wooldridge, will sell this week to former The Famous partner Tom Lazaron. Wooldridge says he's taking a break from the business to enter Web site building and interior decorating locally.
"It's like having a child," he says. "I want to leave the restaurant in good hands."
Assures Lazaron, a 30-year restauranteur inheriting a veteran staff: "The only change is a different face."
