The 12th annual Restaurant Expo and Culinary Arts Show will take place from noon to 3 p.m., March 30, at the Broadmoor Hotel's Colorado Hall (1 Lake Ave.). Each team, comprised of a local chef, two media personalities and a community member, has had 10 days to design a menu based off a predetermined ingredient list; they'll be judged by other local chefs (and also by ticketholders, who will vote on an audience-choice award). House of Yakitori #5 (6626 Delmonico Drive) recently added "& Thai Kitchen by Naya" to its name to account for a new, full Thai section of its menu. The establishment, which has served Japanese-style teriyaki for the past four years, has slowly introduced a few Thai items, according to owner Kurt Stark, whose wife Naya moved here from Bangkok five years ago. After many customer requests, the couple decided to launch a full menu of traditional favorites, which Naya will make as spicy or mild as preferred.
"Most Thai restaurants that have come into town have felt pressure to Americanize their food," says Kurt. "We can safely say that this is as authentic as it gets."
