While ice skating in Central Park is a big deal in the Big Apple, I prefer the smack-dab-in-the-heart-of-the-city atmosphere of Bryant Park's rink, a temporary setup tucked amid 100-some pop-up holiday boutiques. It's in this vein that I have high hopes for the first-ever Acacia Park ice rink (115 E. Platte Ave., downtown80903.com). Today's the final day of a short nine-day run, so don't miss out on the free opportunity to test your pirouette between noon and 8. Bring your own skates or borrow them from the police substation. Donations will be accepted to help fill the Empty Stocking Fund, and local food trucks will be on hand to help you fill your belly. — Kirsten Akens
