Take it from two women who've been around the cell block -- fame really is "all that jazz." Roxie Hart and Velma Kelley are the leading ladies of Chicago!, the widely praised musical tale of murder and fame. Although many are familiar with the film version starring Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the theatrical production is equally likely to dazzle. Sexy musical serenades lead the audience through the bumpy musical career of Roxie Hart, who murders nightclub regular Fred Casey, with whom she's been having an affair. She temporarily convinces her gullible husband, Amos, that he's guilty, but ultimately is figured out and sent to jail. In the big house, she meets other murderesses with their share of "man" issues. ("You know, some guys just can't hold their arsenic.") The most notable of these femme fatales is Velma, a famous vaudevillian doing time for murdering her husband and sister. The rest is a cat fight for newspaper headlines and celebrity status, done up in more glitz and glam than any real inmates could ever dream possible.
