A Cut Above

A Cut Above offers a waiting room featuring a big-screen TV and leather couches, leading into a separate space containing edibles, tinctures, hash, joints and medical pain relievers. Look for unique, clone-only strains that nobody else carries, says one employee.

Acme Smoke

If you miss Acme's location next to Yakibob's and Conway's Red Top, look for its huge sign. Once inside, look for all the rest: edibles from North Shore Edibles, TinctureBelle, granola bars, Keef Cola and hard candies. Also, there's lotions, balms and three kinds of hash. And clones? Acme's got clones. "They're Blue Dream clones, and they're huge and unbelievable," says manager Jocelyn (last name withheld).

All Saints Medical Center

Across from the Black Sheep lies All Saints, which offers edibles and infused products galore: candies, chips, brownies, lollipops, tinctures, hash pills, hot chocolate, chai tea, mini peanut butter cups and more. If interested in an individual strain, the center recommends its Texas Shoreline, which is 90 percent indica. First-time customers receive a free joint, while everybody can find $8 grams on select strains for a limited time.

Alternative Medicine Colorado Springs

Alternative Medicine Colorado Springs was recently sold to the owners of Emerald City Wellness Center, and operations have been combined at this West Colorado Avenue location. Expect to find hash, edibles and tinctures as well as 45-plus strains, and discounts for seniors. With lower prices, look for grams starting at $7, and eighths starting at $25.

Altitude Organic Medicine

While the center's name is licensed from the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based company, each Altitude Organic, which was founded in Denver, is independently owned and operated. The Old Colorado City location offers all organic strains, tinctures from TinctureBelle, lotions, and edibles such as brownies, trail mix, popcorn, Keef Cola, Baked Canna Goods, North Shore Edibles and Cheeba Chews. If spliffs are your thing, find cross, triple cross and King Kong joints.

Apothecare Medicinal Center

"[We provide] discretion, confidentiality and a friendly, educated staff," says Romero, who also offers 10 percent off all products for members and a free joint for signing up.

Bijou Wellness Center

Look for a focus on servicing the needs of veterans and active military members. Banana muffins, lollipops, Cheeba Chews (and other candies), bubble gum, drinks, popsicles, brownies and tea are just a sampling of available edibles. "We understand our patients' needs and offer professional and discreet health care solutions," says owner Jack Myers.

Briargate Wellness Center

When not being confused with a "clean, professional and upscale" doctor's office, Joe DiFabio's BWC is churning out the care: edibles, tinctures, sodas, candy bars, creams and lotions, not to mention hash oil, keef and $30 grams of Caviar. "We bend over backward for patients," DiFabio says. "We do whatever it takes to make them feel safe and secure."

We're located in a medical building, not just a retail store," says owner Tyla Reimers. "It seems to be what sets us apart for our patients." Canna offers all the amenities of a full-service center, including a wide array of edibles from Twirling Hippy, Mile High Ice Cream, marQaha, Cheeba Chews, TinctureBelle, Dixie Elixir and Keef Cola, as well as other baked goods and lotions.

Canna Meds Wellness Center

Billed as "a full wellness center," CMWC offers all the usual lotions and balms, pipes, jewelry, hash and edibles, as well as a line of Star Wars-related strains. All told, around five to seven different strains are harvested every week, so the stock is "constantly revolving," says manager Chris Rice. Eighths for top-shelf meds typically run around $35.

Cannabicare

Cannabinoids Medical Marijuana Center

Cannabis Therapeutics

One employee says Cannabis Therapeutics is the oldest center in the state of Colorado. It boasts its own lab for THC-sample testing — in-house or patient-provided — and offers more products than there are letters in the word "tetrahydrocannabinol." Consider: specials on $100 ounces for members; daily specials like eighths starting at $9; varieties of clones and mother plants; medicated bubble bath, shower scrubs and hand soaps; tinctures and glycerins; THC sprays and drops; roll-ons, rubs and salves; and candies, bubble gum and lollipops. For other forms of intake, look for papers, blunts, wraps, rolls, cones, one-hitters, dugouts, water pipes, bongs, double bubblers and vaporizers all sent out the door in odor-proof, waterproof bags.

Cannacare

Tucked behind a 7-Eleven at the northeast corner of Fountain Boulevard and Jet Wing Drive, Cannacare serves patients' needs with edibles, sodas, ice cream and, of course, the green stuff. Specific discounts are no longer offered, but an employee says prices have dropped so low — for example, $30 eighths — that they're no longer needed.

Colorado Alternative Care Services

Members receive special pricing on a variety of medication, says one employee. The center focuses on offering high-quality strains loaded with THC, but also stocks general edibles, including brownies and cookies, as well as tinctures, oils and salves.

Colorado Cannabis Caregivers

CCC features "edibles that are guaranteed to work," says employee Ben Mitton, as well as hard candies, vaporizers, glass pipes and medicated lip balms. It's been serving the medical marijuana community since August '09; look for $20-to-$50 locally grown eighths. "When people see our selection, they'll find out we're one of the better [dispensaries] in town," Mitton says. Though walk-ins are technically welcome, a phone call 15 minutes prior to arrival is appreciated.

Comfort Care Centers

One of the few dispensaries located in Teller County, Comfort Care Centers invites all comers, but tends to cater to senior citizens, with educational classes and a 10-percent-off senior discount. Look for staple strains such as AK-47, Sour Diesel and Island Sweet Skunk — not to mention a solid selection via seeds from Centennial Seed Co. — as well as varied edibles, tinctures, bath teas and lotions.

Crossroads MMC

"We're a small shop, and still growing, not trying to do anything too crazy," says owner Triton Gulczynski. "You know, just take care of our patients." Gulczynski, whose center is tucked away in an industrial park, says his favorite strains are Master Kush, Romulan and Mango Kush. Also look for a full lineup of edibles; $10 grams; and a $180-per-ounce mix-and-match special.

Eagle's Nest Wellness Center

Eagle's Nest Wellness Center calls the old Swiss Miss building the site for its holistic and naturopathic medicines, nature walks and "rational, reality-based classes," like the grow classes held every Saturday from noon to 2 and the shamanic trainings held every Sunday from 2 to 4, the latter of which is followed by a potluck. There's also a dispensary, which the religion of Ho'ala Huna considers a natural offshoot of its practice.

Enlightened Care

Epic Medical Caregiver

Epic Medical Caregiver supplies hash extracted from all-natural keef with a 2-ton press. It also offers hard candies, Benjamin's Edibles, vanilla wafers and rice-marshmallow treats; look for its Patients for Patients program, wherein the center collects money to help improve the lives of its patients. Daily specials are available for members and non-members alike, while veterans and seniors receive a 5 percent discount.

FRAM

The center offers hash, tinctures, edibles and Colorado-grown medication, as well as specialists in acupuncture, hot rock therapy, Reiki and deep-tissue massage, all willing to travel to a patient's location. Lastly, according to one employee, find the "cheapest bongs and glass pipes in town."

"We're big on the caregiving side," says co-owner Josh Powner, who says either he or another owner is in the building every day. "Our knowledge level is very high, and customers like our service when compared to other dispensaries." Located in a clinical-type facility near Tinseltown, Green Life is open all holidays and provides organic edibles like Benjamin's Edibles and Sarah's Medicated Teas, as well as tinctures, lotions, 120 varieties of clones and cannabalms.

Green Love Wellness

Co-owner Gary Beierle says, "Though we are in a hard-to-find location, it's well worth it." As proof, grams of medication start at $5, eighths at $15, and ounces at $120. "We're trying to be fair with people," says Beierle, adding: "We run a clean, professional dispensary. That's our main thing." Also look for hash and hash oil, smoking accessories, tinctures and candies.

Grow Life

Grow Life prefers to run a 50-50 split between indica and sativa strains, though employees say both are 100 percent organic and soil-based (as opposed to hydroponically grown). It also sports exclusive growers so that each strain is unique to the center, and may be purchased using VISA and MasterCard. Look for edibles as well as hand-blown glass pipes and a sliding-scale payment system based on the amount of medication purchased. Also, all eighths are less than $40 with caregiver designation, new patients benefit from a free edible, and further member discounts are available. Uniquely, Grow Life dedicates a wall to an artist of the month.

Happy Buddha Wellness

Owner Jeremy (last name withheld) says he's got good news for patients: "All we carry is top-shelf at mid-grade prices," he says, noting members receive eighths at around $25. "We don't carry the normal strains. We tend to carry the strains that not everybody else has." While there, look for a pleasant atmosphere and a private location, next to offices for a dentist and massage therapist. There's private parking, and even private appointments available, if you prefer to purchase medication sans company.

Hatch Wellness Center

Hatch first started in Highlands Ranch; it has since opened a Colorado Springs location near Peterson Air Force Base. Owner Dr. Eric Hatch says the center offers buds, clones, edibles and tinctures, and that patients should expect a professional and comfortable environment in which to purchase medication.

Hawaiian Herbal Health Center

Located down the road from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, the dispensary offers tinctures, hash, balms, "lots of delicious and potent elixirs," teas and other edibles. Also find pipes, vaporizers and smoking accessories, not to mention massage services, medicated spa products, Hawaiian souvenirs and the center's top selling strain: Molokai Diesel.

The Healing Canna

The Healing Canna offers a large, well-lit waiting and reception area to patients who come to take advantage of the varying daily specials, in addition to its punch card, which offers a free eighth after 12 are purchased. Members receive even greater discounts, and access to a large selection of edibles, house-made bubble hash, earwax hash, keef and a viewable grow room. The center only sells to patients age 21 and over, and gives 10 percent off to disabled vets. Check its website for daily menu updates and specials.

Health Point Wellness Center

HPW is located in a medical building, providing, as one employee says, "a professional feel that makes people feel comfortable." Look for strains like L.A. Woman, Big Bug, Candy Kush and the Thai Light, the last of which owner Brandon Mackey strongly recommends. All edibles are $5, and include Keef Colas, extractions, tinctures and hash oil.

The Healthy Connections

Owner Bill Conkling says his center offers a full line of hybrid indica-sativa strains, and while it doesn't currently offer edibles, it likely will in the future. "My focus on this thing is meds," Conkling says. "We're trying to be straight-up and simple." To that end, the grower offers 100 percent organic strains like The Flav and Querkle. First-time patients receive an un-weighed nugget of free medication. Conkling's goal? "Let the product be our own advertisement."

For further medicating needs, there are tinctures, capsules, ice cream, candy, drinks, honey, salves and hash. An escort from building to patient's vehicle is available upon request.

Up to 30 strains are available for selection; the center says some of its more unusual ones are Apple Jack, G-Berry, Banana, Flow, and Lemon Skunk. QC is also the creator and distributor of Sarah's Medicated Teas.

Rocky Mountain Herbal Health Center

"Pineapple Express has always been our long-term flagship strain. We've also got Flow, Blueberry ... oh, Sage is a real popular one, too." As for other medication, "extremely potent," custom-made edibles are available. Note: SoCoMMJ only offers prepackaged bulk, with half-ounces running the $99 range — no grams or eighths.

S.S.I. Care Center

The center also runs a "compassion program," which offers free medication for terminal patients.

Phoenix Tears Hemp Oil, as well as earwax and black tar hash, are also available. "Our assorted glass selection has some of the best prices in town," says employee Devin O'Toole.
