The 2014 Indy Music Awards

Meet this year’s winners and festival performers

So who are all these people, and how did they get here? Starting here, you’ll find profiles of 17 first-place winners in the 2014 Indy Music Awards, as determined by readers’ votes earlier this summer.

This year’s winners are, once again, a mix of well-established favorites and relative newcomers. Artists like Grass It Up, the Haunted Windchimes and Malakai have taken first place in each of the four years since the IMAs began. Others, such as hip-hop emcee Stoney Bertz and Americana singer-songwriter Joe Johnson, have earned top honors for the first time.

As in years past, you’ll find virtually all of 2014’s first-place winners among the nearly two dozen performers at this year’s Indy Music Awards Festival. The Sept. 4 event is free and all-ages, and will be held downtown on Tejon Street, with two outside stages and two inside.
