We are what we read 

Books change, shape and challenge us in subtle, creative ways. In a very real sense, we acquire our style of consciousness -- what we see and how we see it -- through books we encounter at key junctures in life. Tepper's Singer From the Sea, a book about laws and covenants. -  - If you could select one book for your child to read throughout life, what would it be? To Kill a Mockingbird. It's about equal rights, justice, and what makes a good person. -  - What current book is at the top of your must-read list? I'd say The Da Vinci Code alongside The Celestine Prophecy. -  - It's a stormy Friday night. Name the author with whom you'd most like to share a few cold ones and conversation. Terry Pratchett, author of The Disk World series, who has a biting sense of humor, and Neil Gaiman, an amazingly creative, dark sci-fi and fantasy writer. -  - Name your candidate for "The Great American Novel." Og Mandino's TheTwelfth Angel, which is about hope and the struggles of a little boy. -
