So, food is necessary for our survival. But do we just eat whatever we can get our hands on? Or do we look for the right ingredients, the right story behind their production, and the right atmosphere for consuming the final product?

What is your favorite thing to cook at home at this time of year? I don't cook. So my husband, let's see, well right now, all of our peppers and everything are growing, and so he likes to cook like spaghetti or Mexican food with peppers.
Where do you get your ingredients? From our garden.
What do you think influences your choices when you are going out to eat? I guess what mood I'm in. Like, if I'm with my husband, then we'll want to choose something we love, like MacKenzie's Chop House.

What does "local foods" mean to you? Local foods? Sure. Like Rocky Ford cantaloupe, farmers markets.
What influences your choices when you are going out to eat? We don't really eat out a lot, but I would say just trying to eat healthy. We don't really eat fast food, that kind of stuff.
Do you think anyone in the restaurant business in this area is doing a good job of providing local foods? I would say Trinity [Brewing Company].
Why are they doing a good job? They just promote local, locally grown foods for the menu. They encourage people to bike to their facility, and they give them a discount. They are just environmentally conscious.

What does local food mean to you? Food that is, like, if we were talking about local food in Boulder, it would be food grown in Boulder. Like within the city limits, I guess, or Boulder County.
Do you think anyone in the restaurant business in this area is doing a good job of providing local foods? Honestly I just have to say the campus, Colorado College, is.
What influences your choices when you are going out to eat? If it's a chain. I really hate chains. I won't go to a chain.

What's your favorite thing to make this time of year? I like to put together a dish with fresh greens, tomatoes, Hungarian hot pepper, perhaps some chicken breast, make a sauce, and then pour that over steamed rice.
Where do you like to get your ingredients? I get some out of my own garden, and at the local grocers, or — I have yet to get there, but I want to go to some of the farmers markets.
