Where to hang

Don't spend your Friday nights, or any afternoons, cloistered in your dorm room. Here are a few options for logging off thefacebook.com and actually meeting real, live people.

Pikes Perk

14 S. Tejon St. 5965 N. Academy Blvd.

Pikes Perk is a good place to curl up with a cup of coffee on a huge comfy couch, hang out with friends or occasionally check out some live music. Wireless Internet access also makes it an ideal place to study or catch up on work.

Monument Valley Park

Go for a run. Play a game of ultimate frisbee. MVP is a great, centrally located place to get some fresh air. Have a picnic, study or just take a walk to burn off that midterm stress.

Village Inn

3902 Palmer Park Blvd. 535 Garden of the Gods Rd. 4275 N. Academy Blvd. 8050 N. Academy Blvd.

Relatively inexpensive late night/morning-after grub. Lots of pies. A good fix for those post-drinking or night-out cravings.

Wooglin's Deli

823 N. Tejon St.

Wooglin's sandwiches and quesadillas are excellent escapes from nasty dining hall food. Because of its close proximity to CC, Wooglin's typically is filled with a college crowd, and occasionally there is live music.

The Drive In

2039 N. Weber St.

BJ's Velvet Freez

1511 N. Union Blvd.

Cheap burgers and classic soft serves. Plant yourself at a picnic table at either of these locales or drive-thru for some tasty food on the go.

Cowboys

3910 Palmer Park Blvd.

ICON

5917 N. Academy Blvd.

These nightclubs are popular destinations for college students looking to get their groove on. Wednesdays at Cowboys and Thursdays at ICON are 18 and up.

Boulder Street Coffee Roasters

332 N. Tejon St.

With an eclectic crowd and a relaxed environment, people regularly stay here for hours playing a game of chess, getting into a good book or catching up with friends.

Sticks Billiards

4474 Austin Bluffs Pkwy.

Billiards tables galore. A favorite among many UCCS students.
