Canine Companions for Independence are so well-behaved, so calm and reliable. It would take divine intervention for my big mutt to be so sweet, which is why I'm hoping that J himself will make an appearance at the seventh annual Run, Walk and Roll. The event, which features a short, easy trek along Garden of the Gods' handicapped-accessible trails, and a Petathalon where your dog can show off his or her obstacle course abilities, raises money for the Canine Companion program, which trains dogs to assist people with physical disabilities. Feel free to bring your leashed dog and participate. Check in starts at 8 a.m. and the festivities begin at 9. Call 260-1166 to find out more.
