Insider Guide 2010
If your yarn stash is popping out from under your bed, your closets and from behind window curtains, perhaps you shouldn't visit the Yarn Outlet — at least until you can come up with a really good excuse to start storing yarn in your shoes. Because if you drop by, you'll realize its prices are so low, you won't be able to leave without buying something from the shelves of overstock and last year's remains.
Writer's Pick: Best Place to Get Lost in (Discount) Yarn
Walking out of the Yarn Outlet without something to add to your stash is next to impossible. The one-year-old strip-mall shop sports floor-to-ceiling shelves and plastic bins filled to the brim with overstock, past seasons' styles and remains — all at prices up to 70 percent off the originals. The store also stocks a small collection of needles, hooks and other notions at reduced prices. Make the Yarn Outlet a regular stop when project shopping; your wallet will thank you for it. And on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m., or Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon, drop by for the store's open knit (and/or crochet) sessions to meet and hang out with others who have similar yarn obsessions. — Kirsten Akens
