Re: “Chris Duarte

A performance nothing short of amazing.
Very danceable, straight ahead Rockin' Blues in the 'Texas Flood' style of Stevie Ray Vaughan (Rolling Stone once said CD was the only heir apparent to SRV), with that same Kick of truly inspired virtuoso Guitar work that both left folks sweaty from dancing, and shaking their heads, smiling.
Drummer and Bass are top-notch, super tight, up the challenge of backing such an amazing soloist, and the whole package had the whole place rocking from the get go. That is, when we weren't just staring in disbelief.
This is a performer who somehow keeps improving, varying styles, and rewarding the listener/dancer, despite having been the best guitarist for thousands of miles wherever he goes, for many years now.
I'm an electric-oriented Rock guy, and have seen a lot of the players on most folks "Top 100 Guitar Solos" list, in some different styles- Nuno, Adrian Belew, Ted, Eddie VH, John Lee Hooker, Zappa, Lifeson, Robin Trower, Tommy Emmanuel, to mention a few- and this guy Live is the kind of Phenom that not only satisfies like the rest, but blows people's minds.
Don't miss him next time he's in the area.

Re: “World Tai Chi Qigong Day

How wonderful is this...I'm so proud to be apart of the Tai Chi Association of Colorado Springs. I began Tai Chi and Qigong in January; learning about my body and its ability to heal itself. Learning Tai Chi and Qigong has made a difference in how I look at the world around me! The western world is missing out if it isn't catching onto Tai Chi and Qigong!

Re: “25th annual Nightingale Awards

I had a great time and also met a lot of really nice people. I was impressed with the entire ceremony. The quality of the personal that were selected for the Nightingale Award was impressive. The guest speaker was very knowledgeable, inspirational and a joy to listen to. I had a great time and would recommend attending the event to everyone. You will gain a new respect for Nurses and their heritage.

I'm sure I am not the only one, but there are a couple of sweet spots on my steering wheel and a rattle that my stick shift makes that I beat on while driving that tends to drive my lady crazy!

Snapple bottle caps make a really cool sounds when you click them. While in high school I joked with my friends who had a band that they should let me play the Snapple tops as a member of the band. They actually let me click them in one of their songs. It was very random, but cool.

I have a guitar pedal that loops sounds that I either play into my guitar or sing into a microphone. I start to make different sounds and build up sounds to a full drum beat before I start playing guitar along side it. I start by hitting the body of my guitar for a real deep bass drum sound. Then I rub my fingernails across the body and it makes a little scratching sound to act like a hi-hat would. If I am playing in front of people, I try to get themt o clap on beat, then spin the microphone around and loop in the audience's clap so they are making music with me. Once there is a drum beat established, I set the pedal to stop recording and just to play the newly created beat on loop, then I start playing accoustic guitar and singing with it.

Walnut shells make great percussion when clomped onto the table like horse feet! That's my most unconventional instrument :)
