Re: “Jack Quinn Irish Alehouse & Pub

Jack Quinn's is great Most of the time. The food is pretty consistently good. The Sunday brunch there is the best! I used to go every week for the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz, but got frustrated with the sound quality of the speakers (only hearing every 3rd word during a quiz is annoying) and stopped going. I like their live music, but its always too loud for the space they are in. If they get the speaker system fixed they would definitely be a 5 star place.

Re: “McCabe's Tavern

The first time I went there the food, drinks and service were amazing. That was over a year ago and since then it has gone progressively downhill. The waitresses get orders wrong and bring cold food. You are lucky if you see one of the waitresses every hour or so. I am not going back again.

Re: “Gasoline Alley

The girls who work there do not practice identity theft. The employees are just practicing the rules that the owners put in effect. They take your license when you open a tab 1. as more of a safeguard that you will not walk out on your tab. And 2. so they know its you using your card! They write down your ID number and state of issue when you close out to prove that they were diligent and assured that it was the owner of the card making purchases, and to cover their backs so, if a customer has a few too many drinks and disputes the bill the next day/days later, they have proof that they did indeed make the purchase. You should be happy that they go to such lengths to PROTECT you from identity theft.
Aside from that, its a great and entertaining place! Always a good time!

Re: “Gasoline Alley

WARNING!!!! Gasoline Ally practices identity theft!!!!!!

I went here and spent about $40 on drinks. When I payed with a credit card they asked to see my driver's licence and wrote down all my personal information on the credit card receipt along with my credit card number. The next day my crdit card company was calling me with a questionable charge on my card for $1000 dollars!!! Do not go to this place unless you want to be robed

Re: “Ritz Grill

Ritz Downtown - Blah. My chicken sandwich was significantly overcooked. My wife ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta. They forget to put in the shrimp! The waitress offered to give us a to go box with shrimp in it to make up for it. WTF!. No offer to reduce the bill for skipping the shrimp. Move on to a better restaurant folks!

Re: “Jack Quinn Irish Alehouse & Pub

The last time some friends and I went here the serves was the worst! We sat down and waited for a wait person. The place wasn’t very crowded. We sat and waited and waited. Finally I got up and ordered drinks at the bar. Two of the people I was with got up and went across the street and ate at Jimmy John’s. I asked a waiter walking by for help and he said it wasn’t his area. Finally a women came by to wait on us, my friend said that would be nice because we had been waiting for some time. She said that wasn’t possible! ? Our other friends returned from Jimmy John’s just as we were given menus. We ordered and wait a while for our food. We were not offered another drink. I asked to talk to the manager and was told by the first waiter he was busy. We paid and walked out the front door. We were than told by someone else that the manager was standing out front. I told him of our experience, to which he said that we should of talked to him. He then told me that someone had said that I had yield at one of the waitress, which is pure fiction, and if I had why didn’t he intervene at that point? My friends and I are all in our 40’s and 50’s, one is an ex police officer. I have enjoyed many and evening at Quinns, and have played music there before. I and my friends will not be coming back!

Re: “Copperhead Road

I definitely agree with Rhonda. I've been going to Copperhead Road since it opened are we are always kicked out of our seats! I would take my business elsewhere if it wasn't to support our linedance instructor on Thursday nights. Copperhead's excuse for doing this is to allow for more people to pack the place and those seats take up so much precious space! You've GOT TO BE KIDDING! The car seats are a nice novelty, but for goodness sake, get some real barstools that don't take up so much space and let us older folks sit on our butts and enjoy a drink or two!

Re: “Jack Quinn Irish Alehouse & Pub

You have to be careful here. 95% of the time the food is unbeatable, and then there is the other 5%. My favorite dishes there are the fish and chips, the bangers and mash, and sheppard's pie.

I have been going there for around 5 years now, and almost always order one of my 3 favorites. It's ususally great, BUT... a couple times a year it's horrible (and that's an understatement!) The last time I was there I ordered the Shppard's pie. It came with a well done top and the gravy was so thin and overpowered with rosemary it was disusting. Now the waitstaff and manager were all over it trying to make it better. I'll definately give them that. The second try at the pie was even worse than the first. I fianlly had to change to the bangers and mash which was rushed (as by the time I got it my wife had already finished her meal) was not properly cooked. I walked... and have not returned.

The one thing you NEVER do in a restaurant is serve undercooked pork (or chicken for that matter).

So, unless they've corrected the problem, which is sporadic, your taking the quality of your evening, and your health, in your hands!

Re: “Trinity Brewing Company

5 friends and I picked Trinity to celebrate an upcoming event. We arrived by 6:30 and ended up on the couches in the back. At 8:45 she let us know it was last call, we asked for a few waters and the bill. As she drops off the bill the very drunk owner tells us we are closing, you have to go. We said, yes, we are just paying our bill. He told us we had 10 minutes. Less than five minutes later he comes back and says, get up now. Get up. Leave. We said we were just waiting for the credit cards, we would gladly leave when we get those back. He said to wait out front. We denied that request and decided to wait right where we were . We asked him why we were being kicked out as the restaurant was still 1/3 full with patrons. He said we offended him but refused to tell us how. How can we possibly have offended him? Before that point, he had not even come to the back where we were sitting. Six respectable, 30-45 year old moms, we had all gotten together earlier that day....at the elementary school PTO meeting. Yeah, clearly we "offended" him.

Stay away from Trinity Brewing and the owner with the dreadlocked beard, he admitted his is a jacka** when he drinks. It is true. We have seen it. Can't wait until the next PTO meeting!

Re: “Buck's Mountain Saloon & Grill

not going back till the management removes the absurd $10 minimum credit card fee for having a beer or a $1 burger. are you kidding? someone help them do the math on selling something with a small credit card fee or selling nothing at all.

Re: “Hondo's Sports Bar & Grill

I have to say that my recent visit was not my first but was the worst. Apparently management has changed recently and not for the better. The food was not what the menu had stated and the kid working the kitchen that day didn't even pay attention to what was on a patty melt when he sent it out without cheese. The service was horrible as the cocktail waitresses ignored me as I sat at my table with an empty bottle as they worked around me. It might have been understandable had it been busy but there might have been 20 people in the whole bar. My boyfriend had similar luck at the bar as the two guys bartending just ignored his cash in hand for 10 minutes. Back in the day I would have said check this place out, but right now I am telling you that you money is better spent at a place where they want your business because the staff at Hondo's apparently does not.

Re: “Gasoline Alley

I always have a great time at Gasoline Alley. Its an awesome place to have a crazy and fun time. The location is perfect for downtown. There is always a good crowd and the rooftop is the best part about it.

Re: “José Muldoon's - Tejon St.

I love their Veggie Taco salad. They give you enough to fill you and it's very healthy. Having it on the outdoor area is a plus!

Re: “Motif

Service is horrible!!!
The staff is inattentive and dismissive. It's painfully obvious they they are easily overcome by events. The bartender is overly concerned with catering to female patrons rather than his actual job. The acoustics in the place are terrible and it's a shame because the bands are great. The music is almost drowned out by people chatting away. Most of this is attributed to the fact that the place is in the garage of the owners other business which the staff freely admits, like its a good thing. The food is way overrated and over priced as well as the drinks. The entire place has an air of extreme pretentiousness as the staff is overly concerned with local elites (some Army General's wife) that frequent the place while in turn neglecting other customers. I recommend with conditions namely eat before you go, don't expect prompt service and sit outside as the indoor acoustics are almost unbearable.

I only order two things: the chimichanga or the topolobampo (sp.?) Both are great!
