Re: “MacKenzie's Chop House

My experience was exquisite and I hope to repeat it. I was there Nov. 20 and whomever was "in the kitchen" rocked! Scallops! omg...The ambience is rich and the bill proves it. <3 the place for a nice date

Re: “Ritz Grill

Went for lunch today to try the new menu. It had a lot of interesting food that all sounded sooo good. I had The Bomb sandwich. That is a perfect name it was truly the bomb, it had egg salad and pastrami. My husband had the Peking chicken and asparagus fries which were amazing. My son had fish and chips and he liked those. OH yeah started with the Man Candy, you can't go wrong with spicy/sweet bacon.

Re: “The Blue Star

How rare...I have been eating at the Blue Star since it opened and have always had a first rate experience on every level.

The Blue Star and Marigold's are the two best places to eat in the City...just considerably better than any similarly priced places.

Importantly, the volume is high enough that the foot is always fresh...I am actually pretty stunned by the bad review. Maybe the hubby is allergic to sea bass.

Re: “The Blue Star

My husband and I had been to blue star a handful of times since moving to the springs about a year ago. Friends of ours had talked it up and we really had seen nothing like it in Colorado Springs.
We were excited to bring my inlaws there when they came to visit for the first time. Everything seemed as usual when we first arrived, we had a table in the lounge area.
Things started going down hill when we got the appetizers. The cheese and meat plate only had one triangle of cheese and was nothing like I remember it being the last time we had ordered it. When one of our several waitresses (sounds nice until they repeat themselves and it becomes unorganized) came to clear our appetizer plates she rubbed the edge of a messy plate against my brother in laws sleeve leaving a sticky mess. We brushed that off pretty quickly though, especially after putting club soda on the spot...
Next thing I know my mother in law is sitting with her main course (salmon) in front of her and she's not touching it, I look at it and there are hairs under the salmon on her plate. When she told the waitress, the waitress offered to get her a new dinner and she comped the meal, but it just wasn't right that after the second mishap from the staff we didn't get a visit from the manager or any kind of sincere apology.
Worst part is next.... My husband woke up with TERRIBLE food poisoning the next day. He had the sea bass and no one else tried his dish. It was a violent case making for a not so great trip for his family. My husband was cooped up in our hotel in Denver all day Saturday and missed an excellent dinner in Boulder.
We are very disappointed in what a scam we fell for, this restaurant poses to be fine dining when really they are unorganized, unsanitary and unprofessional. We will not to recommending this restaurant to anyone in the future and will stay far away from it ourselves!

Re: “The Rabbit Hole

It was an interesting experience for sure... The place is charming, but the four of us that went thought the food wasn't that amazing. Probably wouldn't come back.. We got their burger, the butternut squash ravioli, the trout, and the meatloaf... Interesting

Re: “The Famous

I personally ate at Zane's dozens of times. The food was great! I never got sick. I have many friends who ate there. Same story. Great food. Since the owners were the same folks who operate Mason Jar, the quality of the food has been successfully experienced by thousands of Colorado Springs people. The reason Zane's failed is because the owners did not have the money for an expensive downtown location. It sounds to me like snephtar has a high stress personality, and probably made himself sick. The fact that no other food quality complaints were filed should cause snephtar to rethink his position.

Re: “The Famous

ZANE'S STEAKHOUSE SUCKED- ZANE'S GAVE ME FOOD POISONING (I have the credit card receipt and the Emergency Room documents) AND IS NOW CLOSED. I GUESS THAT SAYS IT ALL. THE FAMOUS HAS EXCELLENT FOOD, ATMOSPHERE AND WAIT STAFF. I think "SmartestMonkey" needs to rethink his/her name because you are truly an effing moron. The meal was "expensive" at Zane's because of the ER co-pay, Einstein.

Re: “The Rabbit Hole

What an incredible setting, it's a subterranean escape from the everyday life of Colorado Springs. I walked around to see the entire layout of the Restaurant and it seemed like I was exploring hidden caves, even a library with a variety of books. There is really cool art displayed and I actually know one of the local Artists. The staff is welcoming and personable, they made me feel like a friend not just a guest. Micro brews on tap (my favorites) and just $2.50 at Happy Hour. The food is absolutely mouth watering, I've had the Juicy Lucy burger, Ribs, Carrot soup, and the German Chocolate Cake. It's nice to have a new place that is unique and not typical of the others.

Re: “Motif

Can be charming, depending on who's there and who is playing in the band. Incredible players like Wayne Wilkenson on guitar are there on occasion, but then some wannabees always seem to show up. The most forgetable-the highly over-rated Bruce Pennington on piano.....ugh..... Seriously, if I hear another cliche' "Liberace"-like scale run from the keys i'll jump out a window. As long as there is a variety rotation in play, this place is worth checking out... but beware the afor mentioned lounge lizard act.

Re: “Motif

I just went to Motif for the first time this weekend and LOVED it!! There was a male singer who was amazing. Loved that I felt like I was in a big city, but only had to drive 20 minutes to get there. My friends and I shared a bunch of stuff off the menu. The sliders and fries were to die for and the chef's special was great as well. A little hard to find, but it was well worth the search, it was a real treat. The service was great, and the drinks as well. The mango martini was out of this world. Can't wait to go back!
