This school brings what a true martial arts school should be to the Springs. The Springs is overrun with "martial arts gyms" full of people who don't know what the true meaning on martial arts is. This school is lead by an amazing sensei who is there to lead and respect you; he sparks a sense of confidence in people that most people never feel. As a female it is always intimidating to join martial arts; but this school immediately treats you like family. No martial arts is easy, and adversely can cause injury, but this is a non judgmental environment that makes it easy to go at your own pace and stay within your physical and mental limitations. I have nothing but positive things to say about the sensei and students. If you want to be respected and treated like family, I suggest going to this school.
With so many members, it is way past time to put in a decent swimming pool for real swimmers, those of us who want to swim laps in regulation size and temperatures! We joined with the understanding that the pool was "coming soon"! It has been 3 years!!!
What a crappy, power hungry school! The instructor prefers that his students bow down and worship him. No respect to the students. If you prefer visits to the E.R because the instructor doesn't understand the limitations of his students than by all means go ahead and train with them. What a joke of a school!
This Y is in a nice area of town. Don't let this fool you, the place is overrun with gangster kids and skaters from the nearby skate park. I was never concerned about that until my locker was broken into, during a busy time on a Tuesday. No security, nothing done about it. Management was not surprised in the least, and stated so. I guess you are completely on your own here. If you have young children you think are being supervised, you might want to think again. This is an unsafe place pretending to be a safe place for families.

We were members there for over a year until we couldn't take it anymore. Kids were constantly goofing around on the exercise equipment so adults couldn't find open treadmills and ellipticals. My kids could rarely use the gym because various Y sports were using them for practices. And the kicker: at least 1 out of every 3 evenings the pool would be shut down because a baby or toddler pooped in the water. Disgusting.
This sounds like a lot of fun!
