I wonder if the mayor and his minions have talked with the US and International Olympic committees about what the licensing fees will be for an Olympic museum? I would expect it to be tens of millions of dollars every year...
This kind of crime should be transferred to civilian authorities to investigate and prosecute. Way too many career-saving cover-ups and other malfeasance is currently going on in this area.
Never hired any military during my 30 years in business as I/we found them to be morally unfit to employ and this strengthens that belief.
Tejon Tech? You sir, are despicable! Go away and take your hatred with you.
So - where is the savings over washing a re-usable tray?
The best way to fight sexual assaults in the military is to not allow women in the military...then considering most of the sexual assaults on male on male, kick out all the gays, and you would about have the problem solved.
Every time you create a set of new policies and procedures that go against nature, you are setting up situations that will have these sorts of results, sexual assaults etc.
One of the reasons more patrol cars and more fire stations are needed is the endless expansion of Colorado Springs towards Kansas and Nebraska.
Its time we start talking about slow growth initiatives.
This proposal seems very flawed. First this so called "free money" from the state is actually our state tax money. I guesse it would be nice to get our share of it but not if we have to wasted a bunch of our resources to do so. The idea of building a multi use stadium downtown while the world arena and security service field are underutilized does not make any sense. An olympic museum might be a tourist draw although it is unlikely to draw new tourists. If an Olympic museum were to be built wouldnt the olympic training center be a natural location for it? The airforce visitor center would be too far away from the airforce academy to draw tourists. The sports medicine center idea is appealing but doesnt seem to have much to do with tourism. Bundling 1 or 2 good ideas with a bunch of losing proposals is likely to mean the whole project fails.
Proponents say that doing something is better than doing nothing.
Some better ideas I have heard suggested include finishing and promoting the trail around Pikes Peak and having a downtown hotel with a large indoor waterpark that would draw families from throughout the region. Also promoting a downtown year round farm and art market similar to pike place in Seattle.
Who is "we," Paul? Like many citizens, even though I don't agree with everything they do, I applaud the Council for taking their responsibilities seriously.
Don't know where you ever got the idea that city managers were never removed from office. Council functioned very effectively under the old system until the house of cards built by the military expansion started to collapse after 9/11 and revenues dropped. We've always had the vote and we've always had mayors. The difference is that old-line mayors, for the most part, knew how to use influence effectively. Bach does not. He throws temper tantrums instead.
We are very concerned about the platform these City Council members ran on for elected office and now the agenda's that they are presenting. Not one of them in office presented an agenda to CHANGE THE FORM OF GOVERNMENT PREVIOUSLY VOTED FOR AND APPROVED BY THE CITIZIEN'S OF THIS CITY! We heard to pro's and con's prior to making our decisions and voting, we did not walk blindly into this governmental change!
Prior to the change we the Citizens could not vote out or recall a City Manager it took a 5-4 vote to fire the City Manager from City Council and that never happened! We now have the right to perform those options if the Mayor and his Staff are out of line with the publics desire. We do not need the City Council to protect us from the Executive branch we can and will take care of that on our own! City Council needs to legislate not mandate!
GUESS WHAT FOLKS? My former comment "RMJ tours that could expand use of the city airport and B&Bs that are friendly to RMJ to bring people here for a vacation." On the evening news they reported that a RMJ tour company is now going to do this in Denver with a tour bus that will take you from Denver to the ski slopes with as much bud as you can smoke along the way!
Why are we not doing this in Colorado Springs? Our reputation needs to be upgraded from the conservative status that we have held for decades and if we are willing to accept this change we will progress into the 21st century!!!
Good luck in your endeavors, it is not easy work. I will write about you in my blog http://alfacoffee.blogspot.com/
