Re: “Off and running

And let's continue to pass on recreation MJ sales tax revenue because that's the fiscally responsible and moral thing to do. Idiots.

Exactly what is it about Tyler Durden and/or the Fight Club that is attracting these scam artists to this blog?

Re: “Tyler Durden returns

How i got my boyfriend back.Am Stacey Bruno by name I never believed in love spells or magic until I met this spell caster once when i went to see my friend in Indian this year on a business summit. I meant a man who's name is Dr ATILA he is really powerful and could help cast spells to bring back one's gone, lost, misbehaving lover and magic money spell or spell for a good job or luck spell .I'm now happy & a living testimony cos the man i had wanted to marry left me 5 weeks before our wedding and my life was upside down cos our relationship has been on for 3years. I really loved him, but his mother was against us and he had no good paying job. So when i met this spell caster, i told him what happened and explained the situation of things to him. At first i was undecided, skeptical and doubtful, but i just gave it a try. And in 7 days when i returned to Canada, my boyfriend (now husband) called me by himself and came to me apologizing that everything had been settled with his mom and family and he got a new job interview so we should get married. I didn't believe it cos the Dr ATILA only asked for my name and my boyfriends name and all i wanted him to do. Well we are happily married now and we are expecting our little kid, and my husband also got the new job and our lives became much better. His email is:

Re: “Off and running

Unfortunately a sales tax which expires in 5 years is not going to solve an infrastructure problem which requires a sustainable funding source. What happens when this community votes to let it expire - will the streets and bridges and trails no longer need maintenance? And what does the new mayor propose for the stormwater problem? Another short term solution while hoping the issue just goes away on its own?

Re: “Off and running

Suthers proposes a sales tax that will end in five years, just in time to be raised again for the stadium.

Re: “Off and running

Why can't necessities: food, clothing, shelter be excluded from the sales tax?

Re: “Off and running

What did Suthers say about using sales tax revenue to build a downtown stadium? Does Suthers think $200M of sales tax via the C4C TIF financing scheme should be used to build a stadium instead of using those dollars to fix streets? Raising the sales tax AND building a stadium may lead to a citizen revolt. Suthers says he favors letting retail marijuana go to a vote. Will he let the stadium issue go to a vote? Let the people decide how THEY - not City Leaders - want to spend this $200M.

Re: “Off and running

our failed teabagger run city government experiment continues unfortunately. gauge the poor by putting a sales tax in place instead of a property tax... and the baggers will keep voting against their best interests...

this failed experiment will lead to less and less tourists so less sales taxes... who wants to come to a city with streets and infrastructure that resemble Baghdad.

this village is in trouble!

Re: “Unwelcome guests

Look, Cragmoor already kicked out every student (which is great, since they can come park in my neighborhood in Rockrimmon whenever they like, but the inverse does not ring true) from parking on their streets, in their (unoccupied) church parking lot, etc. You live across the street from a college campus, one that's growing rapidly; if you don't like it, move.

Re: “Everyone likes the museum design

The positive feedback is coming from City Leaders and those directly involved in building the museum. City Leaders haven't asked and don't care what the bourgeois think. Fortunately, most of the dollars to build the museum will come from donations. However, the taxpayers may likely have to kick in $12M - without a public vote - if zillionaire Anschutz and other philanthropists are not sufficiently in the giving vein. And how much is the USOC giving? Zero. They're spending their dollars on what's important to them, and that does not include yet another Olympic museum.

The museum won't do for COS what needs doing - think jobs and potholes and storm water - but at least it's not a skyscraper. City Leaders should take off their blinders and consider the folly of building an eyesore stadium next door to this futuristic museum. Putting Beauty and the Beast side by side will be an aesthetic blunder of gargantuan proportions. But looking on the bright side, maybe the museum will be the catalyst the developer and City Leaders need to revitalize the URA. Maybe the museum will be so successful attracting tourists that the developer and City Leaders will realize they don't need an additional catalyst and will abandon their plans to build a stadium.

Re: “This is not a test

Though you have a good point Hunter, it would also be silly to complain if after spending $10,000 on a dentist a patient refused to brush their teeth every day and blamed the dentist when other cavities appeared.

Far too many parents neglect their children's education and blame the schools for failure. The biggest predictor of educational achievement is parent involvement.

Only positive feedback? I have heard nothing but mockery about the City for Champions projects. This city would paint a burning house.

Re: “Unwelcome guests

Private housing is not uncommon. Private apartment buildings for students only does not seem the norm. If not run by campus housing what security problems (increased police calls) will this cause. Sad that neighbors have to pay to ask the City for consideration of their concerns. Anything built to support the university should need to fit the landscape. City planning should do more planning than rubber stamping.

Re: “Homeless shelters and programs in Colorado Springs

What's with the time limits on finding and keeping a full-time job?! It's COLORADO. If you have issues that keep you from getting full-time work like your CREDIT or references or lack of full-time verifiable work experience, then you can't stay at a homeless shelter either because it will likely take YEARS to get a job over those barriers, not 60-days....?!?!?

Re: “Let the electoral games overlap

Note to Gordon Klingenschmitt - I don't know you, but I know Bob Gardner. I had the opportunity to work with him a couple of times while he was my state rep. We may have policy disagreements related to how he and others chose to respond to Obamacare, but Bob is a good man and a solid conservative.

Late in his last term, I expressed interest in running for his vacated seat. He unselfishly offered to spend time with me to educate me on how to go about doing that. I also know he offered the same to everyone who expressed an interest in running. He appreciated everyday citizens being involved in government and the issues. This is another example of how he sacrificed his own wealth making time to help others.

You earn exactly ZERO credibility and trust from me when your opening move is to trash a fellow conservative. Stop the character assassination on people who are on our side.

Save your outbursts for the leftist progressives who are fundamentally transforming the city, county, state and country into something they were never meant to be.

Re: “Let the electoral games overlap

When the Affordable Care Act passed, Bob Gardner co-sponsored the state bill to establish a state health exchange. States that refused to set up their own exchanges had the federal exchange foisted upon them. No doubt Gardner will defend his decision as having been the best way to minimize federal government intrusion into local business, which does not contradict his stated basic opposition to the federal act.

My religion taught me to give people the benefit of the doubt, to be reluctant to accuse anyone of a serious infraction. So, I am inclined to dismiss Klingenschmitt's illogical conclusion as a misunderstanding rather than a deliberate attempt to mislead.

On the other hand, I am appalled and dismayed by Mr. Klingenschmitt's rush to judgement and casual accusation of dishonesty. Mr. Klingenschmitt likes to wear his religion on his sleeve. The admonition against bearing false witness is one of the Ten Commandments. Perhaps he does not understand what that means either.
