Time for these guys to call it quits.Young has been babbling for decades , always dropping names, who left Poco, blah, blah blah. If the band had done anything maybe the guys wouldn't have left. He talks like it's his accomplishment or Poco's that band members found great success elsewhere. The fact is they didn't find it with him, that's nothing to brag about.
I've seen them a few times over that past few years and nothing has changed since yesteryear.It's a snooze job,filled with slow , dreary tunes, little energy, same stale stuff. Young was barely passable as a lead vocalist in the 70's, now his breathy vocals are a whimper.As for this particular show, I was there. They had the misfortune of playing after Pure Prairie League. Poco was blown off the stage by PPL, who were led by Craig Fuller. That band was on fire, just like the old days, great show. To hear Poco describe it, they had a big night. Maybe it was, as far as old freinds etc, but not musically. Despite publicity like this article, the largest part of the crowd departed after PPL, and even more left by the 3rd or 4th song. No joke, they had less than 100 people under the Palomino tent while performing.
Now, Paul Cotton left, and not exactly on friendly terms. i guess Young is hanging on until he can get a book done, so he can peddle it to the few fanatics who attend the shows.No doubt the book will have stories about all the big names he knows or met, more blah blah blah.He won't have any stories about what a smashing success Poco was so he'll adjust. Hey, maybe he can make the same old stale jokes about The Eagles stealing his bass players !! I wonder why they left ????A perfect example of name dropping.Save your money.
The next time I read that a band actually states that it was influenced by Poco, it will be the first. But ask Young or Furay and they'll tell you every band after them was a direct result of them ! Quite remarkable since hardly anyone knew tham and those that did didn't get to excited anout them ! Sometimes, you're just not good enough. As Chris Hillman said: "They just didn't have very good songs. " Guess what ? They still don't.

Thanks for a more in-depth conversation with Ms. Monae. I appreciate the knowledge an interviewer can bring to the subject without asking the same questions.
Also, I hope you've realized that if indeed, there is a misstep, that "Oh,Maker" is not it.
I think the entire album is near flawless and is a serious contender for album of the year.

I just picked up the new album today. It is such a refreshing mix of styles and each song has its own uniqueness. I usually buy a cd because I like a couple of songs on it, but this new cd has me loving every song on it. It is also affordable.

Thank you for the great article about Los Lonely Boys. Be sure to attend their upcoming acoustic set. I went to six of their acoustic performances last November on the East Coast and loved every second of it. I can never have enough of their music. It would be great to have a review of the concert from you.

When I heard they listenend to Merle and Willie I got pretty excited, then I listened to their cuts...bummer, sounds like another cookie cutter band turned out by the Nashville Country Music Machine that dictates what is on the radio. That's too bad. For some real country visit wayne the train hancock, the Hacienda Brothers, oh yeah and don't forget Deke Dickerson and the Echo Fonics. Don't be a slave to pop radio! Some great tunes out there, give em' a listen.

So now iTunes decides what is and what isn't relevant...
What a (musical) world we live in. I have used iTunes for years now to find older acts and see what they've been up to. I've downloaded "world" music that is not relevant in the context of the U.S.A. or American (corporate) radio.
I find it comforting to know that most "mainstream" radio, the iTunes format, and what music magazines consider to be relevant are proving not relevant at all. iTunes will hang on because of their sheer market volume. But what they throw at me on their music genre pages isn't relevant to me or most consumers.
When they begin to realize that, then there will be hope for them to hang in there and not turn out like the dinosaurs of the (former) record industry and over-the-air radio. As more and more artists figure out Web pages and PayPal, I'll be going direct-to-artists like BoDeans for my music and truly cut out the middle man.
Kurt has his own recording studio and once he gets the Internet down, along with sales at shows of direct CDs, he'll reap all the profits (along with Sam, of course), and be able to bypass the corporate ignoramuses that spell out their own demise. Sure, it won't be tomorrow, but how long ago was it that CDs were considered to be the future? iTunes should reconsider thier god-like statements of what is and isn't relevant.
Mr. Sad Clown, by the way, is an excellent recording all the way around. "Say Goodbye" should be getting A.C. airplay in ALL markets, as should "Gone X 3." "Shine" is another example of radio-friendly music that is relevant today.
Keep up the good work!
