Wayne Williams is UNFIT for office and NOT worth having on our payroll.
Like Bach, he's pushing the Koch Bros / AFP game plan to disenfranchise as many minority voters as possible; the "inactive voter" ploy is such a gimmick, similar to Florida's ghoulish Rick Scott's shortening of voting hours, cutting early voting, etc. The GOP are criminals.
I did voter registration in 2008 at various sites. I also worked at the PPCC-Rampart Campus voting site where we signed people up on the spot if they wanted to vote. IIRC the term for same-day signup was "Provisional Voter" and their forms and votes went to the clerks office to verify they were eligible in this county.

The already very low assessment of $113 per month only covers operating expenses and a small portion, $8.35, is set aside for reserve funds (to replace things as they wear out, not get burned down in the most catastrophic fire in Colorado history). The monies collected pay for management services, weekly trash service, snow removal, landscape maintenance and community water for our formerly gorgeous neighborhood. When we tell people how much we pay for all those services most people think it's a bargain! We agree. We love our neighborhood and would love to get back to living our lives. The Indy isn't helping, really. Journalism this is NOT!

Thanks. I choose to regard the two posts you refer to as participating in the give and take of expression in the comment section of a local press organ which appears to be a well-managed paper encouraging lively debate on subjects of interest and one that does not discourage opposing views. One option that appears available is that when you see my name attached to a comment, you could just skip on by and read the next one?

Please read the comments on the previous article. Waldorf schools are not what they claim to be. Critical thinking? Seriously? I suspect the author of these articles is connected to these schools in some way... nobody just closes their eyes to bad performance. How long are we going to allow Bach and his cronies to continue to destroy our city? Like most politicians, he speaks out of both sides of his mouth. It appears that he is losing his memory and at times seems very confused and is very defensive when questioned about his decisions and actions. If Bach is asked a question which requires a truthful answer, he gets very agitated and I have seen news footage where he actually runs away to avoid answering a difficult question that requires honesty. Bach says our budget is stretched and we do not have enough money to cover some of the basic city services, yet he is once again bringing up the idea of a downtown ballpark which will costs millions of dollars to build. I agree with Jack, we do need to change the city charter back to the old system as soon as possible before Bach and Melcher destroy our city, reputation, and economy further.

Our system of government was created in such fashion that laws could be changed as the norms, values and mores of society change. Also, to adapt to changing physical conditions or situations that could pose a threat to human life.
Being shot at close range by an automatic weapon with a 30 round clip often results in multiple grief for victims and families. Equally often, in death. Asking people, some of whom may not be mentally stabl,e to submit to a background check - - and limiting clip capacity to 15 rounds (or 10 or 7) seems prudent in an increasingly violent society. Yes, the argument is often made there are already 250 million guns in private hands. But you cannot make corn flakes without first planting the seeds. If we do not begin now to curtail violent individuals from owning these weapons, when will we? Is that really a violation of our rights? We do have the 'right' to live and the right to alter conditions which will keep us from living!
Our system of government also is one that creates spirited debate on many issues, which is healthy. Our side of the current gun control legislation, and the resultant recall effort against Senator John Morse is that this is not an appropriate action to take, it is quite expensive to field special elections, there are fewer than 14 months to a term limit and it is likely this seat cannot be taken over by a member of the opposite party in a special election. Therefore, is it prudent to spend perhaps a quarter of a million dollars to recall what has been a good public servant to date, with 14 months to go?
If you feel as we do - please sign up to volunteer with us to halt this recall effort. Everybody has rights!

What "public" and whose safety is he talking about? And what do employers have to do with people's personal lifestyle choices? If you don't like it, don't smoke it. Imposing your moral values on others is a low class thing to do.

The liars who claim that legal cannabis is a threat to public safety are themselves a threat to American Liberty -- generations of traitors to our founding ideals made and continue to sustain Prohibition. Those who turned the supposed "land of the free" into the world's leading jailer should be beyond the protection of our laws. They have done far more harm to our country than any other terrorists. How riddled with fascism must Colorado Springs be to elect the likes of Doug Lamborn, Dan May, and Steve Bach?
The sale and taxation of cannabis is a sideshow -- the main issue should be that the General Assembly completely failed to revise the criminal code to reflect the fact that the People Of Colorado just declared that cannabis "should be regulated like alcohol". Violating the Liquor Code (Title 12, Article 47 of the C.R.S.) is a misdemeanor, not the Class 5, Class 4, Class 3, amd even Class 2 felonies for conduct involving cannabis. While supposed activists obsessed about vertical integration and retail sales, the bill supposed to implement the criminal law recommendations of the A64 Task Force (SB13-283) was characterized as the consensus of the Task Force, amd only I testified against it when it first was heard in committee. That bill re-stated all the felonies for cannabis already in Title 18, Article 18 of the C.R.S. -- now, the bill just kicks the issue back to the ineffectual CCJJ for "study". Colorado is charging ahead to license the cultivation, distribution and sales of cannabis by next January while continuing to make felons of its citizens for those same activities, with no plans to stop! Every felony statute against cannabis remains on the books, though police, judges, and most especially, jurors should put a halt to all prosecutions for cannabis until and unless the General Assembly heeds the Constitution and removes felony penalties for cannabis from the Colorado Revised Statutes.

And people voted in Obama who is nothing more than a Chicago thug...and as we are seeing a very corrupt man with an anti-American agenda.
MJ is a debilitating gateway drug...and just because the majority of high educated dropouts voted it to be legal, it is still a debilitating gateway drug...and will have exactly the larger effect Bach is saying it will.
At CC We have so many students and faculty smoking dope and then walking into the streets without looking both ways, we are afraid someone is soon going to get run over by an entitled north ender who is also floating on a cloud of dope.

It was my understanding that legalizing pot meant tax revenue that this city & state desperately needs. Much like alcohol already is. As the mayor is not adverse to taking a drink, even tho many people would not approve. It is not now up to the mayor to regulate due to his own moral objection. He simply does not have to smoke as others chose not to drink any alcohol. And leave the Springs it's revenue stream.

The citizens have already weighed-in on this.
Why are they comparing this to porn? A much closer comparison would be alcohol. I don't particularly care for pot and drink very little. I would much rather see the citizens ingesting cannabis than drinking alcohol.
I think the mayor might just be drunk on "Refer Madness".

The REAL public safety issue and threat to everyone is the black market who will benefit from Bach's proposed Ban. If we eliminate legal channels to access this legal substance, we perpetuate criminals and cartels to capitalize on cannabis commerce in Colorado Springs.
If we did not have liquor stores, people would be brewing more beer and wine at home and selling it to others. Liquor licenses help control this commerce through regulated legal structure. Voters want the same thing and think regulation should apply to marijuana retail stores.
We are already low on police resources and in Bach's own words, we will run out of money sooner than later. Combined with the fact that private employers have been on the decline (-10%) along with their tax contributions; we need this new economy to help pay Bach's paycheck.
Comparing pot to porn is low, even for the mayor - but regardless of commodity, legal substances, like marijuana (and porn), have legal commercial mechanisms so that supply may meet demand. The mayor is up against the will of voters on this one who want to regulate marijuana like alcohol and shouldn't argue so strongly for such a weak position.
