Re: “Sheriff balks at OEM removal by county

Hey Bob you do know CJC is an Adult jail dont you? After a person becomes an adult theres not much parenting left to do. Trying to blame parents for what there adult children do is kind of out there. Now for you to defend a man that has ran around with several women while married to another shows how you feel about family and promises. Now dont it? I personally taught my kids marriage is not something to take lightly and promises are as good as a hand shake and should be kept. So your comment about other parents kind of makes me think you should look in the mirror yourself before condemning others. Now lets move on to your other comments Where is it a right to smoke in parks? Yes its kind of of silly but theres no such right written anywhere. Second he was elected to uphold the law. Even you admitted those gun restrictions were made LAW so for him to decide for himself not to abide by them kind of sets him up as NOT DOING HIS JOB. Now dont it? Now your imaginary argument of "cant be enforced" is hogwash and we all know it. If you gave your buddie a gun knowing he was unstable and had been arrested for beating his first wife then killed his second with the gun then yep you should be prosecuted if for nothing else being stupid. If you dont know he had been arrested well then the background check would keep you from being stupid. Now wouldnt it? Time will tell if he broke any laws and if he gets indited for all the other crap hes accused of. Now if the man cant or wont keep a promise to his wife and family. How can we trust him to keep his promise to us. GET IT?

Re: “Dissecting the Rockies' exit

Ralph, I know that this isn't sports reporting; it's sports commentary. But in marketing, your column falls under the "putting lipstick on the pig" category. The loss of the affiliation with the Rockies, no matter how incompetent the management or disappointing the the team - will cost the Sky Sox at least 25% of their paying customers. And building a fan affinity for the Milwaukee Brewers is a long term and costly proposition - which may not be worth the effort, given the standard two year contract and decidedly luke- warm welcome from the Brewers.

In short, this is at best a serious financial challenge for the Elmores, and at worst, a sea of red ink, just the color that pig is wearing.

Re: “Marijuana: Chris Bartkowicz is back

Watch overtaken on youtube and get educated on what is killing our kids. Kids as young as eight are starting with the pills and moving on to heroin by the age of twelve. marijuana is not the gateway drug, i belive it starts for most with sugar then nicotine and alcohol. Why are doctors even writing prescription for oxy, vicodins and all the other opiate pain killers to anyone under the legal drinking age? I think it is safe to assume the reason comes down to the huge incentive gifts that big Pharma is paying these doctors to write these prescriptions.

Re: “Marijuana: Chris Bartkowicz is back

I find it appalling how a
our government can spend and waste so much money going after marijuana growers and the dispensaries when there are people dying every nineteen minutes from prescription pills and every six minutes from heroin overdoses . Everyone knows that marijuana is medicine, but unfortunately our government has been bought by Big Pharma who would lose billions of dollars if people grew and made their own medicine and could heal themselves. It all comes down to the big mighty dollar, privatized prisons have become a business so they fill the prisons with addicts. Prisons do not rehabilitate people. Allowing an entire generation to die from these opiate overdoses is called depopulation.

Re: “Much ado about a C4C stadium vote

The 34-question C4C stadium survey that Bach refuses to make public includes the question, " you agree or disagree ... that a new, downtown ballpark will help revitalize the downtown area in the immediate vicinity of the ballpark by encouraging restaurant, retail, hotel, housing and commercial development." 2000 subscribers and members of the Sky Sox, CC, World Arena, and RBA answered this question. What did they say? WE paid for this survey. WE want to know.

We learned last week that the mayor and developers do NOT want a Public Market downtown, a market which all by itself would work wonders in making the URA attractive as an urban neighborhood and which would also be a magnet to tourists. Instead of welcoming a Public Market to the URA, the PM was redirected to Anschutz former Gazette building, located more than a half mile east of Nevada, a location requiring the city to provide busing and bike trails to get there. The mayor and Jenkins nixed the plans of the PM to be downtown because THEY have reserved the URA properties for C4C development anchored by a stadium. Will a stadium be good for existing businesses on Tejon? Will stadium goers walk several blocks over to Tejon for a drink? Or not? I want to see the answers to the Secret Survey.…

Re: “Sheriff balks at OEM removal by county

Bug us and our leaders, Robert? Ummm, no. In fact, until recently, Maketa was the Golden Child. He could do no wrong, and the constituents (including myself) pretty universally loved the Sheriff. Then we all found out that, without a doubt, Sheriff Maketa has been using his department as his own personal harem. To include having a sexual relationship with his comptroller, and the two of them opening at least NINE bank accounts in the area, FIVE of which the El Paso country treasurer was unaware of. No, Sheriff Maketa isn't "bugging" us Robert, he's fucking and fleecing us...

Re: “Sheriff balks at OEM removal by county

Mr Maketa has admitted that "mistakes were made" during his time in office. He has appologized to the people who worked under him, without specifying what those mistakes were, and he is under investigation by the FBI. Now he wonders why the commisioners are taking the OEM out of his hands. I would guess they think he has enough on his plate getting ready to defend himself against all the potential legal battles he is facing.

Re: “Sheriff balks at OEM removal by county

Theres an easy way to sum this up. Maketa you're a scumbag, a crybaby, and an unqualified a-hole. Quit whining, suck it up, and admit to your wrong doing. The more you deny it the worse it will be for you in the long run, ask Lance Armstrong. The best part of this whole thing was when the independent investigative report on the Black Forest Fire came out, which you heavily criticized. Oh, wait, when asked if you read it you're reply, 'No I didn't' Then how in the world can you criticize it.

Re: “UPDATE: City agrees to pay PERA $190 million

Bach has been a nightmare since he was elected by the "we don't want to pay taxes
on anything especially storm water ultra conservative tea baggers and over zealous republicans, doug, the felon bruce (he is not worthy of capitol letters), and all the other whiners who refuse to raise taxes to grow our city, attract jobs, and protect our infrastructure. They behave like whining toddlers and yet they have no trouble complaining about issues and challenges facing Colorado Springs! Bach is nothing more than the Koch brothers puppet. It is time for the citizens of Colorado Springs to step up and hold the Mayor and City Councils feet to the fire. They need to take action to improve our city, attract businesses, deal with storm water and many other issues that are not being addressed by Bach and his puppet masters. Colorado Springs has been my home for over 30 years and I hate to see what our corrupt leadership is doing to it. Shame on the idiots that elected Bach.

Re: “Lamborn and Co. urge generals who oppose Obama to resign

We all know that Doug Lamborn is not the most intelligent of beings when it comes to being a member of Congress. I've been following him and when he was first elected he didn't really show any flashes of intelligence. Eight years later there hasn't been any improvement. In fact there has been some regression.

You have to ask youself, as a Voter, "What has Doug Lamborn done for me personally?" We know that "we" as taxpayers have given Doug Lamborn over $8 million in salary and staff expense since he's been in Congress. What has the CO5th gotten for that? Not much! One piece of his legislation passed with the help of the "other" team. Most of his legislation never makes out of Republican controlled committees. Aren't you curious what he's proposing? Why don't the Republicans like his legislation? Maybe he's proposing legislation to look busy and not so much for results. No original ideas to help his constituents?

Doug Lamborn is completely helpless stopping the $2B that will be leaving our local economy with the downsizing that is coming. And trust me, it's coming!

We're #1 in the state for child poverty. What has Doug Lamborn done to aleveate the problem other than voting to cut SNAP and WIC funds which also affects our young military families and some of our Social Security recepients? We need 19K affordable and low cost housing units. What has Doug done for Colorado Springs? He likes to get funding for other parts of the country but the CO5th not so much.

All you Republican businessmen & donors (if you read this post) must ask yourself, "Would I hire this man to work for me knowing full well he has a very poor record of producing any results? Why am I donating to his campaign even?" He basically has no marketable skills that can be used in the "free" marketplace. He's been feeding at the public trough for 20 years and what has he accomplished? In the vernacular of the military, he's a 'NO LOAD.'

So, it's time to step up and replace Doug Lamborn. You Rs out there, it's time to hold your nose and vote for the "other" guy. I'm sure he won't make embarrassing national news for some dumb move on his part.

Re: “Sheriff balks at OEM removal by county

No reply to my question of course and if I do get a reply it will no doubt be innuendo or the parroting of some yahoo that knows next to nothing except they want to be sheriff or they live on "kick-backs". Give Sallie Clark a badge!
As a little information that many do not seem to know is that it is government's job to take care of infrastructure and to protect our Rights. Sheriff Maketa has been protecting our Rights while Hickenlooper, Bach and the rest think it is their job to collect money, spend money and build monuments to themselves. The city and county are crumbling starting with the roads being atrocious (caused by rivers that occur after a rainfall ((drainage)) and winter's freeze and thaw cycles). There is sand piles everywhere, weeds and elms overgrown left and right just to name a few. Hickenlooper makes laws on firearms and to hell with voters. Government is not there to create jobs either (Bach) or pass ordinances to keep our parks from burning down (Bach, no smoking)! Parks burning down??? I would laugh but it is not funny. Government is now reverting to the (non-smoking) backroom deals and good ol' boy system of times gone by. Nobody learned from history so it repeats itself...

Re: “UPDATE: City agrees to pay PERA $190 million

Speaking of C4C . . . Bach the mayor is quite different from Bach the campaigner. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO BUILD A STADIUM. The mayor and City Leaders know the city can't afford it. There is no economic or other beneficial reason to build it. $200M of local sales tax revenue will be diverted from essential govt responsibilities to service the debt. COS needs jobs in the private sector. The mayor and City Leaders know this and they should be focusing on this need. Instead, they want to assist Jenkins etal to revive downtown by building skyscrapers in the URA. Who do City Leaders think are going to occupy these skyscrapers? They say they want a walkable downtown where young professionals can live, work, and play. Where are the jobs these young pros will be filling? Does the mayor intend to grow govt bureaucracy in order to provide jobs for the young pros to walk to? I wonder . . . since the "heart" of the city moved away decades ago and is extraordinaly resistant to moving back, is reviving downtown even a worthy goal?

A stadium will not create an economic boom. Prosperous cities build stadiums and other status symbols AFTER their economy is booming and not BEFORE. Govt is authorized by the people to spend OUR tax dollars only on specific city needs, such as providing/maintaining infrastructure and public safety. That the mayor intends to spend $200M of OUR tax dollars on a frivolous stadium is outrageous. And it's even more outrageous that the mayor and City Leaders intend to build it without a vote of the people.
