Re: “Battle over Strawberry Fields continues in court and, maybe, at the ballot box

How can Pam Zubeck still get the details of the exchange wrong? Incredible...

Re: “Battle over Strawberry Fields continues in court and, maybe, at the ballot box

Thank you once again Pam Zubeck and the Independent, for your unfailingly timely and thorough coverage of this increasingly complicated story. It would have been much easier on everyone if the Parks department had simply had the courage and foresight demonstrated by the Colorado Mines Land Reclamation Board just last week when it voted against Transit Mix's bid to commercialize the historic Hitch Rack Ranch lands and turn it into a quarry operation.
That board, in stark contrast to our Parks department and City Council, specifically cited the adverse effects upon "wildlife" and the "environment" in making it's decision. Those two words which were never spoken in all the hollow rhetoric of Broadmoor representative Jack Damioli nor that of Parks director Karen Palus. The CMLRB board, again in stark contrast to 6 of 9 of our City Council persons, heard the citizenry out and then acted in accordance.
I would like to encourage our City Council members to act as true public servants on November 7th, when given a second chance to reflect the wishes of the citizens who put them into office. If a general vote were held tomorrow, .
there is absolutely no doubt but that the citizens of Colorado Springs would support keeping that part of North Cheyenne Canon Park known as Strawberry Fields in public ownership.

Re: “AFA sits on FOIA request nearly 3 years

The Christian domionist homophobes who've come to dominate the USAFA (how'd that happen, anyway?) procrastinate in revealing documentation the public's entitled to see because being forthright, forthcoming, and transparent would mean allowing the light of day to shine brightly into the dark places they prefer to keep dark so as to delude the public as to their intentions; the conversion of the military arm of our secular democracy into a militarized Christian 'outreach' (read: 'jihad') against those who would resist it in our society and in the world at large. Their foot soldiers, however, have no such inhibitions. Hence Mikey's & MRFF's constant battle against bibles in non-religious military spaces, 'Jesus Rifles', 'Crusader' emblems & idolatry, and the list goes on. That the leadership at the AFA hasn't been told to resign is a measure of how deep the rot's gone.

Re: “Bad reflection on our city

Fortunately, voters win elections, not special interest groups. I won my council seat four years ago without their endorsement, and I will do everything I can to win again next April.

Re: “Bad reflection on our city

what do you expect... this backwards village is the old fart mecca of the mountains. young people don't want to stay here in teabaggerville and no young person worth a piss is going to work for $6250. since we are in teabaggerville it will be impossible to raise the salary. you know better than think these teabaggers want that $12 minimum raise to pass either. the downward spiral continues...

Re: “The First Tee develop opportunities for young athletes

Love to see the emphasis on programs that not only develop the athlete but the character of the young person as well!

Re: “The First Tee develop opportunities for young athletes

Thank you for spotlighting The First Tee of Pikes Peak and it's impact on the young people of Colorado Springs. As someone who has interacted with the chapter board and staff, I can share that the participants and parents are in good hands. Thanks again for highlighting the work that Leighton Smith and the support coaches are providing. If this is your first time learning of the program and facility I highly encourage you to visit the Indoor Learning Center this winter season.

Re: “CSPD didn't finish probe of officer charged with money laundering

CSPD can't afford new officers because they are paying this one his over 100K a year salary to sit at home and earn retirement.

Re: “Local women claim business owners assaulted them

I know Andi Van Gogh personally and she is a responsible and compassionate person who would never attack anyone. I don't know any of the other people in this story, but it sounds to me like maybe our police AREN'T "very capable of sorting through information and evidence" to make the right decisions if they didn't take proper statements from the women. This case definitely needs to be looked at in depth.

Re: “Welcome to Kolorado, Klan Kountry

The Indy didn't lie. They printed a dated story from the Denver Post. Ed Quillen was a well researched writer and I miss my old friend dearly. The Dems and Repubs pretty muched switched places in the sixties what with the southerners running from the Kennedys and Lynden.
Look again at this article and surmise just which party today would best embrace this behavior.
Ghandi told us I like your Christ, your Christians, not so much.

I spoke with Electra, great lady, recently. All across the west side and Manitou her signs are being stolen. Sad and small behavior but not unexpected from the vote suppressing, gerimandering crowd in which we live. Go get em Electra!

The local First Tee facility is wonderful - great for golfers of all ages - If you haven't been there be sure to stop by soon.

Re: “Parks ballot measure hits retroactive snag

The City and Trader Mayor John (pronounced - Traitor) are in a mad dash to complete the task of their masters. This entire matter has shown the "Strong Mayor" to be a puppet of Anschutz. Like a Banana Republic dictatorship, the entire city staff is controlled by the whims of Saddam Suthers.

Re: “Lawsuits take aim at chemical giants over poisoned drinking water

For some families this kind of toxic exposure could have meant congenital birth defects in their children--this needs to be looked at as well. There is a birth defects registry at where parents can enter for the record any pre-natal or pre-conceptual exposures. The data is used to correlate cause and effect with environmental factors. Any affected families, please consider doing this.

Re: “Mixed blessings

I can't wait to come and visit this campus. My life has been deeply impacted by Andrew's ministry. He is a great man of God with a commitment to spread the gospel to the nations. Word of God is alive and powerful, a bunch of believers learning the Word of God will only benefit this community.

Re: “Helen Collins on A-71, Trump's taxes, Manitou parking, and more

Thanks Helen and Joel. I was unsure how to vote on this. The pro-side ads say a yes vote will limit out-of-state special interests, but I was skeptical since all the career politicians - aka the enemy of the people - are all on the pro-side.

And...for anyone who likes Amendment 64...know it would never have gotten on the ballot under the new rules of A71. Also know that under A71, it will be easy to repeal. NO on A71.
