Re: “UPDATE: Colorado Springs reaches settlement in racial profiling case

So, essentially what is being said is that bodycameras do reduce the incident of racial profiling, when officers are held accountable for their actions and being filmed. That is the intent of the cameras. Not just to document arrests, but also to document the abuse civilians.

What is needed are comparative analysis of the data, before and after body cameras. Number of citations, number of complaints against the CSPD, Percentage of Race/Gender of citations issued from 2010-2015 vs 2015-2016. From there a comparative analysis can be made. Not just cherry picking the stats that favor the CSPD.

Re: “The fourth estate is in peril

The so-called Fourth Estate has fallen for its own "everybody is a victim" nonsense when the real cause is that they've become lazy and cheap. By becoming aggregation platforms and media conglomerates they have lost sight of what it means to be news organizations. Research, fact-finding, and the use of credible sources have been replaced by rumor, innuendo and the citing of the trend of Tweets as some sort of public fact barometer. That crap is not news and thoughtful people can see right through it. The only way to regain respectability is to abandon your lazy habits of the last decade and spend your money on reporters and true journalists - not opinion writers and blowhards. This publication is a case in point, as it has one true journalist - Pam Zubeck - yet it has dozens on the payroll who also dubiously claim the title.

Re: “The fourth estate is in peril

"Journalists on the whole might not be the most likable people, but dishonest they are not."

Hmmm... guess your journalistic education never included "yellow journalism" (1890s), Joseph Pulitzer, William Randolph Hearst, etc. The truth, whether you like it or not, is that most journalism is biased and sensationalized.

Re: “GOP chair charged, but hours later DA's Office dismisses charges

One the one hand we have a person who was not doing anything illegal in the operation of his vehicle and on the other we have a person who was crossing the street illegally. Other than hitting his friend, the driver did nothing wrong and his friend would not have been hit had the pedestrian been obeying the law.

So it has nothing to do with whether or not the driver is May's friend or rich white man, it is a simple matter of law.

And I agree with Jackie.

Re: “Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country

BTW, because these people are actually criminals under this law, those helping them can actually be charged with aiding and abetting or under 8 US Code 1324, the latter usually being a felony.

Re: “Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country

"Progressive churches prepare to protect immigrants in the heart of Trump country "

Typical misleading headline. There is no threat to legal immigrants.

"But Trump's guidance, issued in January, upended the country's enforcement. That's because it defined "criminal" broadly enough to include everyone in the country without authorization like, say, all the women around this table. "

Again, misleading. Trump did not define what "criminal" is. Long established federal law, 8 US Code 1325 -- last changed over 20 years ago, actually makes them criminals, often felons. Trump is simply enforcing closer to the letter of the law.

This is a horrible accident and both families are grieving on so many levels. You both should be ashamed of yourselves and try to reach beyond your own limited capabilities of having feelings for people you don't know. Pathetic!

Re: “Reader: The Academy Chapel is a beloved national monument, you crazies

The Establishment Clause was never, ever meant to prohibit religion in public life, and all the screaming and squalling and red-faced, foot-stamping temper tantrum throwing by the secular Left will not change that. That became more certain with the appointment of Justice Gorsuch. I must admit that the temper tantrum throwing is entertaining. God Bless the USA, and God Bless the USAFA Chapel.

Re: “Digital video providers could be the end of your cable bill

Great article very accurate assessment. One thing not mentioned is that 4K will soon become the norm and the UltraFlix is and will become the contnent leader in the world for 4K. Ultraflix.com is building both HD and 4K for virtually every type of TV, tablet, laptop, cell phone manufactured. The app can be found on both Android and Apple devices.

Re: “Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site hosts big Army drill

Not one word out of a person from Ft. Carson is the truth!! Those guys spew trash better that any garbage truck in America. Look at this picture--does that look like a barrow ditch with GRASS--Nope!! Just dust, dust and more dust. Wait until the wind starts up--those poor enlisted men had better have respirators or they will develop COPD--just a little while they are young but with age they will be totally disabled. If they haven't seen grey slime instead of lung tissue they had better get ready!!

Re: “Olympic Museum and ... what else in southwest downtown?

What a mess. I don't think the Olympic Museum is a good idea and I am willing to wager it won't draw many visitors. I think this whole City of Chumps debacle should be scrapped and, in it's place, invite actual community dialogue. Personally, if we are stuck on building a museum, then we should start with a children's science museum, including the influence Tesla, who lived in COS and has an awesome history here. But that's just my opinion, among the other opinions of all the thousands of people who live in the area. Why has this project come in so fast? Routons' article highlights that all contingencies are planned for- when was the public ever even consulted? What a mess

Re: “Olympic Museum and ... what else in southwest downtown?

Routon again proposes a STADIUM - this time to rebuild the aging AFA Falcon stadium downtown. What WONT the proponents of downtown revitalization think of next. Thankfully, as Routon says, this idea has no traction.

SW downtown's redevelopment, which has languished for 2 decades, has for many years had America the Beautiful Park and now will have the Olympic Museum as catalysts for redevelopment. And, as a URA. it is the recipient of City dollars. What is the reason that SW downtown is unable to fulfill its promise to provide infill housing and retail for COS?
