Re: “Venetian Village Neighborhood Yard Sale

Your listing is in error. We are a 300-home neighborhood with up to 70 sales in the neighborhood that weekend. The last few years, we have averaged 40-50 sales.

Re: “Heal Our Schools

AWESOME documentary!! FILM MAKER Laurie Gabriel will debut a documentary that illuminates what could happen if teachers were given a say in how children can best be educated. It shares suggestions on HOW to SAVE OUR SCHOOLS, and get the TRUST back!

Re: “The Lantern Fest

Beautiful idea that was terribly organized. Huge lines of hundreds of people with no volunteers or signs to direct traffic. The only way to get in and out of the festival was a cramped tunnel under the raceway that everyone crammed and pushed their way through. Definitely a fire hazard. No security and no one checking tickets.

We tried to make the best of everything and got some beautiful pictures of other people lighting their lanterns and roasting smores....since we never got our supplies. It was an incredible sight, but management should take a serious look at their organization and safety planning for an event of that size before I would recommend anyone going and purchasing a ticket.

Re: “Todd Rundgren

And by the way, Todd Rundgren did not talk at all to the audience. He did not smile, laugh, joke, talk about the Springs, give a little background of his album, or once say hello. He did not say one word to the audience. I've never seen a performing artist do this and be so aloof to the people who came to see him perform. Maybe he just doesn't care what the audience thinks???

And what does it mean, "He sorta sang a few oldies", as if having sorta sang a few oldies made his performance sorta worth waiting to the end for.

Re: “Todd Rundgren

Actually the music was repetitive, hard to enjoy melodicly, and boring. The only instrument was one guy on a Korg synthesizer (who was really good but) and Rundgren playing guitar for a total of maybe two minutes. I'm surprised more didn't leave like we did. I expected to hear ALL of his old hits mixed in with his latest album Global that he was of course promoting. This is what the vast majority of the people came to hear at a pretty good cost. I can guaranty the vast majority of people weren't happy with what they were hearing because almost NO ONE was moving at all, up to the hour and a half point where we had enough and left!!! You please the audience who paid to hear you. I read later that Rundgren almost never plays his hits and absolutely refuses to play any that the audience request. Just sorry I didn't read this beforehand, huh?

Re: “Todd Rundgren

Love Todd Rundgren. A few drunk patrons made this unpleasant. Sad to see people leave early in the show since he sorta sang a few oldies with a twist towards the end of the concert. The concert was promoting Global, though most expected SOME of the originals. Overall money well spent. Good Luck on tour Todd.

One of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe stories centers on the theft of one of these. "The High Window", published in 1942.

Re: “Six Women Playwriting Festival

Saw the shows tonight and they are very entertaining. Each of the 6 plays is very different from the others. The actors did a wonderful job. Hard to pick a favorite. So much local talent within the casts. Definitely a go see!

Re: “Buffalo Grass Acoustic Society

This is a wonderful place to hear good old time folk, cowboy, bluegrass, and other Americana music in a family friendly setting. The price is right too... only $5 for adults and kids 16 and under get in free. You get to hear local western and bluegrass performers and bands as well as nationally recognized stars like Barry Ward, WMA male performer of the year. Shows are held in the Cowboy Church of Peyton which is about 3 miles north of town on Bradshaw Rd. or a mile north of the intersection of Bradshaw and Murphy Roads. There are no shows in June, July, August or December.
