Re: “Stop killing garment workers

K: So, you have licked your wounds from the last ass whooping you received in these pages and, being the arrogant twit that you are, have forgotten how painful it was.
Unions of yesteryear bear no resemblance to the greedy thuggery of the unions today. They care nothing for worker safety and (if one were being honest) nothing for the "worker". All they care about is maintaining their dwindling power base, how much money they can extort from companies, how much they can squeeze out of their lemming members, and how much Democrat ass they can kiss.

Apparently, Stacy, you have never heard of the infamous Triangle Fire.

And speaking of communists, Mr. K, why is it when hundreds of Chinese miners die in a mine collapse, you and Hightower and the rest of the Marxists have no opinion?

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Change the subject? Okay, let's go back. You were saying that somehow if there were no unions in America today, that building codes would not exist. Sure makes total sense.

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Stacy, can't you read? Did the article in question mention Benghazi, or Bangladesh? Or are you simply trying to change the subject in a vain attempt to distract attention from your indifference to the safety of working people around the world?

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

siggie, I would wager both liberals and conservatives would be shocked to discover that advocating safe working conditions makes one a "useful idiot" and an "unwitting communist."

Ironically, it is conservatives like yourself who unwittingly aid the communist cause. Most Americans consider workplace safety to be common sense, but once you have explained that it is a vital part of the communist plot to subjugate the world, the American people will say, "Then we are communists!"

Re: “Viewing civil unions from the pulpit

gurudori, you posted a lot of stuff that I already knew, but did not answer my question, so let me clarify: Does the Christian Bible state that "...the Jews wanted him [Saul/Paul] excuted for converting to Christianity and blaspheme again OT..." or is that statement based on tradition and commentaries?

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Indeed, siggie, if not for the unions, those could have been innocent American workers dying in American sweatshops, instead of foreigners dying overseas. Indeed, Stacy, how stupid of these workers not to have realized that resisting dangerous and inhumane working conditions would lead to businesses relocating overseas where human life is cheap.

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Right Rocky "Bush did it", yeah, we never hear that. Get a grip Rocky, the fact is Bill Clinton signed it. And as we look into recent history, we learn something. That the Democrats controlled both the House AND Senate from 1993 to 1995, and on what date did Bubba Clintoon sign the law? Why, December 8, 1993. How strange, either you don't know what you're talking about or you're a liar. I'll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt and say it's the former, after all, you do sound like you vote Democrat.

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

You guys do understand that it was Bush the first to get the ball rolling with NAFTA dont you? And it was the business lobby and Congress by the way a Republican Congress that got it passed. You also understand its Corporate America that entices the illegals to come here so they dont have to pay for the benefit of hiring Americans. Yep Clinton put his name on it. But wasent it a man in Texas that was thrown out of the Republican party for his sucking sound argument. Stupid is as Stupid does.

This is the stupidest trial of all time. Anchutz isn't responsible for Jackson being a crackhead like Whitney Houston or Rick James.

The powers that be don't have to like you, they do have to respect you. The Indy has some top-notch, balanced reporters -- that's why John Weiss accomplished the miracle of starting a paper at a time in this country when they are disappearing. Keep up the good work. The city needs you.

Stacy, the term 'useful idiots' has never been more applicable than in the US today.
I would wager that the many liberals would be shocked to discover that they are unwitting communists.

WOW! Who says, "it isn't all about money?!?!?" - because, in reality, "YES IT IS!!!" These two mega-rich people will duke it out and fight to the death because of the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. Yes, IT REALLY IS ABOUT $MONEY$ - for EVERY PERSON ON THIS PLANET.

Re: “Kudos for King, a Facebook fracas, and more gun voices

Anti gunners, one more time, listen up. You have been lied to. If 90% of Americans wanted new gun laws, there would be new gun laws, it's called "representitive government". If our elected reps don't vote the way the majority wants, they don't get re-elected, pretty simple. As for Morse, just this week the guy tried to re-criminalize marijuana, HE HAS TO GO! Spare me your knee-jerk defense of all that is Democrat. Morse is puposely and without shame, ignoring the voices of the voters, sign the recall, get your voice back.

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Great post siggie. It makes one ponder the question "are liberals so stupid, that they cannot see that making it more expensive to do business chases businesses away?", I say yes, liberals are exactly that stupid. These are the people that complain about companies "shipping jobs overseas", yet cheer as Bill Clinton signs NAFTA and Obama prepares to ship in another 30 million illegal workers. Liberals don't see the connection. Just a tip for the Manitou crowd, a factory of Mexican workers in Mexico is just like a factory of Mexican workers in America.

Re: “Stop killing garment workers

Hey Hightower, are you ready to denounce the extremely high corporate taxes in the US? You know they are the highest in the world. There is your "culture of greed". Couple that with the incompetent, gluttonous unions and no wonder companies are forced to do business outside the US. So, the next time you hear the inane cry of the envious - "the rich have to pay their fair share", you will stand up and say: "wait a minute. Let's think of the consequences."

Re: “20- and 30-somethings find little hope, hospitality within recent city politics

This is a city that never had a goal and thus never had a plan. Thus it is a city that is completely irrelevant among other US cities.

That is why new thought is required.

For years the old hands around this city thought that new homes were the economic messiah - the key to creating wealth - but we are now discovering it was a false god, as neighborhoods come with costly and everlasting infrastructure burdens such as water, roads, and fire/police support.

The real answer is entrepreneurial enterprises - something that only young minds can provide.
