Help save the community centers!

The four community centers scheduled to close on March 31Hillside, Meadows Park, Westside and Deerfield Hills — are still fighting for their survival. There are a number of fundraisers coming up which you can participate in. Here's a few (including one tomorrow):

* MARCH 4, McCabe's Tavern, Southside Johnny's, Phantom Canyon Brewing Co., and Jake and Telly's will donate 15 to 20 percent of your lunch or dinner purchase to the centers.

* March (month-long), Texas T-Bone, 2070 S. Academy Blvd., will donate 20 percent of your purchase to centers with if you present the flier (see below).

* March 8, Pizza Hut, 2840 S. Academy Blvd., donating 20 percent of sales to community centers.

* March 15, Pizza Hut, 3671 Star Ranch Road, donating 20 percent of sales to community centers.

*March 20, Sunflower Spring Festival at Westside, 1628 W. Bijou St., donating ticket sales and donations to the centers.

* March 22, Pizza Hut, 3167 W. Colorado Ave., donating 20 percent of sales to community centers.

* March 27, Southeast Community Centers indoor yard sale at Hillside (925 S. Institute St.) from 8 a.m. to noon, table rentals to benefiit the Southeast Community Centers.

* March 27, UCCS Social Justice Film Festival, at Hillside from 5 to 10 p.m., donations taken at the door.

* March 28, Gospel Explosion concert, featuring local and regional church choirs, poets, drill teams and more will happen at the City Auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will benefit the centers.

* Ongoing, J.P. Kreations, 50 percent of all sales will go to support community centers, as well as 80 percent from a special community center jewelry line. Visit for more.
