They're asking for it

The city is wading into the deep waters of mobile-mania by setting up a program to allow citizens to use iPhones and other devices to make service requests to the city.

"While on the go, citizens can now easily report the issues that fall under the following categories from their mobile device," a press release says.

Reports can involve abandoned vehicles, barking dogs, transit, noise, parks, potholes, sidewalks, curb and gutter, streetlights, traffic, signals and signs.

Dont let a pothole become a cavern. Tell the city about it with your iPhone.

Other issues not listed on the mobile application can be reported via e-mail at AskCity@SpringsGov.com or phone: 385-CITY (2489).

From the release:

The free iPhone GORequest application available via iTunes store. iPhone users simply download the free GORequest application from the iTunes stone, open the app, and select an issue to report. iPhone users can also take a picture of whatever it is they are reporting, then submit. The app knows the exact location and sends the issue directly to the City. Users are kept up-to-date on the status of their issue via e-mail until the service request is fulfilled. For complete instructions and a link to the iTunes app, go to www.springsgov.com/mobile or click on the green mobile icon on the top right corner of the SpringsGov.com homepage.
iPhone users can also follow the City RSS feed for news and events to get the latest information from SpringsGov.com.

Other mobile users

A mobile app for Blackberry is expected to be available in the coming months.
